Quad Motor Or Esc Problem?

Well I installed new esc and new motors on my Shuriken 180. The first power up I did encounter some smoke :(. After inspection some soldered was found were it wasn't suppose to be. I clean it up, re solder the esc and motor but now I'm not sure what is the problem now. I don't know if the motor or the esc went bad during the smoking session.

Thanks Keith :). I do have a spare esc but not a motor. I wait on ordering new motors then.

Stick on that spare ESC and see what happens. I would check to make sure the motors are not shorted though by running some resistance tests on the leads.

Well thank you Tony and Keith. I put a new esc on and soldered the motor back on. Plug the usb in and went to the motor section of Cleanflight to calibrates the esc and when I plug the battery in ... well you can say FIRE came ouit of the motor :(. I guess I will be ordering new motors Huh Lol

This is why I stated to check the motors with a multi-meter first. Just in case. Sucks that you lost another ESC though.

Yeah Tony but I didn't get to your post til I was done replacing the esc. Plus my multi meter the other day went south. Beside motors I better order another multi meter too Lol. I have plenty of ESC. Derek and I purchases 8 each of those Little bee 20a ESC from hobbyking USA last week when they were on sale for $4.95 each. Good thing I did Huh.

Man, I don't know what I would do without a multi-meter lol. I would go insane lmao.
I've been getting cheesy ones from Walmart that don't last long... with me anyway. What do you have Tony or recommend that will last?

The one I have is a craftsman one from back in the 90's some time. Still works and is still accurate. But if you want a good one, get a Fluke.
