Quad Motor Arrangement

How should the motors be arranged on a quad? Does it really matter? Should the #1 motor be on the top right, top left? Should it be CCW, CW? Is there a science behind it?

Motors are listed as if looking down on the quad with the front being at the top.

Ok. That's how mine are mounted. I was really interested in knowing the correct numbering for them.

Just an FYI, this diagram is in the betaflight configurator. In the Configuration tab I believe. Can't remember lol.

just be sure to check the motor orientation when you begin your flight controller configuration in your GUI.
