I can't say if it's useful or not.... but the page clearly states doen't mention use with a PC, just a phone and it didn't say which type of phone... Android or IOS. I would also assume you would require one for each battery you have since it retains some history information.

I cant see how it would be an issue. Voltage is voltage. Your big issue with old batteries is going to be voltage sag. If you get huge swings in voltage during load and no load your governor is going to get wonky; not to mention the Amp draw during periods of load.
