Foam board thickness

I'm going to build Tony's trainer I have downloaded plans but would like to know what thickness foam board I'll need to get?

The stuff that I use is 4.75mm thick (3/16"). You can use anything from 4mm to 6mm and it will work just fine. If you are goign to use something like depron though, you will need a lot of spars in the plane to help strengthen it. On foamboard, the paper does a LOT to make it strong.

If I go with Depron I think I'll cover it with coloured packing tape to give it some strength this will also give it some waterproofing

I've seen many people use Depron to make their planes. Cover it with packing tape, as you said, and it is quite strong as well as waterproof. Good luck buddy!!! Be sure to take some pictures and share them!!!

I much prefer working with Depron to Foam board. Its lighter and easier to cut.
