Flying today.

Well to be precise it wasn't today, it was Sunday. The weather broke, the bit of snow we had on Saturday melted, so I got out with a few of my helis. It was breezy so really only any good for the big stuff but I got seven flights in. Here's the last flight of the day with my KDS Agile 7.2. This thing is a tank so does really well in blustery conditions (don't expect any fancy flying):

Feel free to post your own videos of your recent flying exploits...

Thanks Rodney,
The wind was actually worse earlier in the day which was when I (stupidly) chose to re-maiden the little Blade 180CFX. Despite the wind I did get a safe and uneventful flight out of the little Blade which I was really happy with as I know with these micros you can often end up chasing problems for months after a crash.

On the bigger helis I always tend to land with a mini-auto. It feels safer to me bleed off the headspeed in the air using an auto. I find that on the ground with the rotors at full revs the heli can get a little nervous.

Nice flying! We had perfect wx here on Saturday. 0 wind, NACA. This is me just buzzing around with the Edge 540T.

I need to start practicing those auto's! I usually flick TH right at landing anyway....

Nice! You must be near the river with all those hills! I know central Indianna is flat as a pancake! Lol
Ohh duhhh! Yes you are! I remember you talking about the Ohio encroaching into your field a while back! I have a relative that lives in Evensville IN

Here's a pic and video from today's flying, i just took helis out today:

The Dune has just undergone maintenance and fitting of a new Hobbywing ESC and Gryphon HV BEC, so I was looking forward to flying her again:

Thanks Rodney, D.O.G>

The Dune is flying really well now. Ever since I had the Dune I was struggling to get rid of a slight vibration in the tail and a small 'wag' in the tail too. Between the rebuild, taking extra care to get all the meshing and alignment spot on, and the new ESC she's now perfect, not a hint of the old problems. Also the old ESC has a harsh soft start (not so soft at all in reality) that meant I had to run the blades very tight, the Hobbywing is much better so I can run the blades properly adjusted.

Awesome collection and some great flying. I'm not about to get in to Helis...I can barely fly the planes.

Here's one of my better landings:

If the plane was undamaged then it's a good landing!
Landing while flying toward yourself is a bit more difficult when you are learning. With a nice long landing strip like you have there you might have better luck making the turn to final not so far down wind, and as you descent to touchdown flying past your standing position and so making the actual landing with the model flying away from yourself. This just avoids the possibility of getting your left and right mixed up in the heat of the moment as you land, which may have been the issue in the video.

I always land coming towards myself. I've overcame the tendency to turn the wrong way a long time ago. I was taking advantage of the high winds and practicing touch-and-go's. The wind was running solid 15-18mph and right as I was dropping in a strong crosswind gust got me before I could recover. The only damage was to my pride....

Damn those microbursts!

Here is the video of the mornings flight:
