Kits FinWing Air Titan Build

Worked on the plane today.... They added a mod to the original design.
The way it was at first was to have the plywood landing gear plate glue to the belly of the plane.
Then attach the gear to this point. But as you can see they added extra section just above the tail spar.
This will add a lot of strength to the gear. I will glue it in place on the spar section, but first i did some test fitting.
You will have to remove some of the foam in the fuze where the section will go.
So I got out my soldering gun with a 12ga wire installed for cutting and got started.

Take your time not to remove to much foam, and don't leave the trigger on all the time you are cutting
it will get to hot and melt faster than you think.

As you can see this will give a place for the bottom ply to attach to. along with being glued in place

as shown here you can see the screw that will hold the section in place giving it much more strength

Time to move on to the front landing gear.
Yes they are steerable, only one thing I didn't like how they did there linkage.
So time to change it for my taste.

As you can see from the next pics there is a lot of slop, play in the linkage.

So I got a picture hanger and bent it to make a way to connect the new linkage

53-AirTitan.JPG

Take your time and with a little effort you can make it fit just right onto the steering arm.

54-AirTitan.JPG

Drill 2 holes and add a screw to hold it together and you will be good to go.

Here is a little video to show how smooth it is working now. Plus not slop or play at all :biggrin1:

Nice work! If you didn't maybe put some loctite on the screws/nuts to make sure they don't back off in flight.

Thanks....I use blue loctite on all my connectons. I don't want it to be my fault if I crash... LOL

But crashing builds character .... lol

I must have built a lot of character while I was learning.
I built some more on the weekend. :)

Well did a lot of work on the titan this past week... enough that I got to do a maiden Sat.
I will get most of the pics up this week and maybe a in flight video. It was windy that day had to use a lot of rudder when landing just to keep it straight.
I did find out this thing is way over powered. I can make the wings flap in a dive @ WOT LOL it was a one time thing. From now on I will just cruse around like the plane designed for.

here are a few more pics

I had to add a access door, this thing is to long to not be able to get to the middle.

Ran my wires and glued in the tail support.
Now time to put it together, painters tape hold it in place while it drys.

I bought 2 of the Dragon Link antennas to use on my EzUHF
added a little plastic tubing to keep them straight
Also used bamboo skewers to mount them. Carbon would hurt my range, i just colored them black with a marker

and the rest.... Got my cloud canopy mounted and the pan/tilt.
The coolest thing is the head tracker. Being able to look around while flying is just too fun.

This is how much bigger the AIR TITAN is than a Finwing Penguin V2

So where are the missile mounts? :)
Or does it have bomb doors so your ordinance is stored internally? :)

That thing is HUGE, I want one. :)

WOW! That thing is gorgeous! I'd like to see some ground video of the Titan doing some flyby's.
