450 Checking Tail rotor gyro correction direction

I have found some great advice here on checking the gyro correction direction. (Thanks Lee)

I stumbled across this way by accident while trying to work out gyro compensation direction vs. main rotor rotation direction.

You can try this, but be VERY careful PLEASE!

Remove the main rotor blades, but keep the tail rotor blades on the heli.
Make sure the tail rotor is clear.
Hold heli FIRMLY underneath, between the skids.
Realease Throttle hold and spool heli up to about 50%.
Now push against the tailboom gently with your free hand. You will feel the heli resisting your push. Push the tailboom in the other direction and check the "resistance".

If your gyro compensation direction is the wrong way around, the heli will not resist your pressure applied against the tail boom.

PLEASE,PLEASE - Keep your hands and clothing and anything else away from the spinning tail rotor.

I hope this helps.

That would certainly work, but as you said, not the safest method :D A tail blade failure could end in disaster.
