Chargers Charger settings don't match battery rating...

Crash Test Dummy
I have some 450mAh batteries. I can only set the charge rate in increments of 100mAh, so I chose 400mAh. The pack seems to be charging, no heat etc...

My question is: The batteries are marked "Maximum Charge Rate 3C"

The batteries are E-Flite High Power Series
Charger is a HiTec MultiCharger X-1AC

Does this mean that I can charge at 450 x 3 = 1350mAh ???

Something isn't adding up for me here.

TIA
SGIS

OK it took almost 40 minutes to charge the battery from around 3.85 V per cell...

If anyone can shed some light into this for me I would appreciate it!

Yeah, max charge rate is rated at 1350mAh. However, unless you are in a big rush I wouldn't go beyond 1.5C or 700mAh. Higher charge rates will tend to shorten the battery life over many charge cycles. Also, don't run them down until they are dead. If it takes 5 minutes to run it to dead, only fly for 3.5 or 4 minutes max. Again, running to dead or near dead will eventually shorten the battery life significantly.
