450 Best Head Speed

Trying to get more power out of my 450. I am curious to know what everyone else is running on their 450's. I have a 3800KV motor a 150T main gear running 3 cell. My calculations;
12t pinion at 4.2 3274
12t pinion at 3.7 2885

13t pinion at 4.2 3547
13t pinion at 3.7 3125

14t pinion at 4.2 3820
14t pinion at 3.7 3365

12t pinion seems low to me but jumping up to a 14t pinion seems a little extreme?

What do you guys think?

Super Mod & DEAL KING!
have you considered motor efficiency in this ? It comes out to be 80 percent avg.. 85 or 90 for good motors

I would say just from my experience, keeping your headspeed about 3200 rpm is more than enough on a 450 size. on 3000 you throw smack on a bird EASY.

3200 can be your ID2 speed.. and 3000 your ID1..

13t seems good as the motor wont be overworked.. but only if you use governed headspeed.. if you are using throttle curves and trying to govern the head speed that way.. you will have to tach your head and make sure you dont go to high ..

14t seems overgeared to me. . 3800!! wow! you will have an angry hornet in your hands...

My warp is set to 3000. It depends on what you want it to do. If you are just flying around doing a bit of Sport then high head speed isn't neccesary, long flight times are. 12T will give you that and 13T will give you more of a 3D machine.

Good info guys. I thought 14T seemed extreme. I am nervous going upside down with the 450. My 500 has so much more power it just doesn't seem like the 450 is adequate. But looking at my last couple videos that thing was moving so at least a long loop is a good starting point.

Should have my 500 back in the air this weekend.

Thanks again,
Ken
