ive had a look inside tony nothing seems to be wrong however resoldered anything I could get to and its still the same
does the 3gx do anything with the thr channel ?
because at the mo I have esc power to batt in on 3gx and esc data to rx all seems to work ok

I'm at a loss as to what could be wrong. Only other thing I can think of is to try and test another 3GX.

What transmiitter do you have and how many channels? If it is 6 channel you have to wire the 3gx different. I have a thread on here when I built my 450 and I can't remember what it was with the wiring but mine did the same till I charged the way it was wired

It's a dx6i and a ar6200 both 6 channel
