Yes. You have to build that connection in your head. You have to build the muscle memory of what what tour fingers are doing in regards to what the heli is doing. That's why I recommend a SIM. The caveat is that you have to tune the sim

It comes in time and takes a while to learn. For me, it was over a year for which I have already forgot most of it since I don't fly much anymore lol.

How cognizant are you guys of where your sticks are? If the throttle stick was at mid-stick are you guys cognizant of that? Is that just practice to get to that point?
Lots of practice to make it muscle memory... and it takes a lot of practice to get there. Most transmitters have a center stick beep that you can enable, that lets you know when you hit center stick. I personally never used it, but it may help....if you can put up with the beep every time you hit center stick.

Most of it becomes muscle memory. Once you get it down it’s like riding and balancing a bycicle you don’t really think about it. I’d stick to the much smaller heli to learn this stuff on.

I hated the trex 250 I though it flew like poop. When I was learning I used a mcpx. Moved on from the mcpx when I kept blowing the tail out. 130x was my next heli and that taught me a ton.

My smallest heli now is the oxy3. I have every model up to a 700. Flipping is exactly the same on all of them. But stick to the smaller helis until you get this stuff down. You should be able to fly around inverted before needing to move on.

I’d have to agree now that I’ve been doing this for a while (trial and error) I’ve got my XK K120. Perfect heli for learning on. I’ve heard great things about the 130x

The only bad thing about the 130x is the plastic tail gears. They like to strip of you strike a gnat in the air lol. But they did come out with upgraded gears to combat this issue. I think @callsign4223 has done this upgrade to his, even though he never flies it :poke:

I even stripped the upgrade gears on the one I had. Did it in flight four times, doing tictocs and hurricanes. I finally got tired of it, and gave the helicopter to a friend who loves the small ones.

I have a 180 cfx. Get the oxy2 instead. Its not as small but its going to be supported. I think the 180cfx has been discontinued.

Every time I crashed the 180 I sinking almost $60 USD into it. The servos striped every crash, landing gear every 3 or 4 crashes, tail gears every crash and if you missed throttle hold it cost you a main gear every time (then again that's any heli). Not to mention main shaft and spindle shafts. I have a plethora of parts because I needed it for it.

Now Once I start crashing the oxy2 ill let you know how bad it is in a crash.

Tik toks on 130x seriously? Tail never held well enough for tik toks for me and I even had the upgraded motor. I remember the servos burning up constantly. I had a love/hate relationship with that heli. It taught me a bunch but it had a lot of issues.

The 2 blade 180cfx was discontinued the 3 blade is still going. The really need to implement rescue for that heli. I wouldn't mind picking one up that didn't have electronics. I'd stick a Spirit FBL controller in it. What servos did you have? metal geared servos or plastic?

I suspect the Lynx LX1436 main gear would solve the stripped main gear problem. When I had a 300x was same issue stripped every crash. Once switch to the lynx main gear many many many crashes it never stripped.

These guys make quality parts for the micro helis. I'd try out one of their main shafts much better than blades.

The Oxy2 I have heard good things about. I do not have one so can not give any kind of advice on that heli. Having the oxy3 its to close in size and if I was in the market for a micro I'd probably skip the oxy2. If I were to buy again I might buy an oxy2 over and oxy 3 though. I had a ton of left over parts from the 300x which led me to buy the oxy 3.

I ran my 180cfx as a stock beater.

I was going to transplant the electrics from the 180 to the oxy2 but found out it was not a 1 to 1 swap out. The only things that would have moved over was the servos and the blade 3 axis controller. I have oxy2 and 3 on Vbar Neos at the moment. Since I have the main stuff to do it I may switch the oxy 2 over to spektrum and run a micro vortex or ikon. Its still a way later thing. I am not in a hurry to convert it to spektrum.

I changed the tail servo on mine. It was a micro heli servo and mount, to put the servo on the tail boom. That solved the tail issue, but the gears still sucked.

What do you guys think about the Blade 230 s? Would that be a good heli to learn flips on? It would be a step up (in size) from the K120 but not sure how good it would be to learn on..

I am not familiar with the kit. Flipping is flipping. What changes is your perception of it. Mentally your seeing a bigger heli, its going to feel different on the sticks and a few other things.

Bigger is always going to be better. The bigger the airframe the stable it will be. You have a bigger disk, more power and weight. Tuning will be easier in theory.

What's going to make or break your experience is going to be the tune and setup. Get your input response set the way you want it. Make sure your tail responds the way you want it.

You will have some crashes. Its going to happen while your learning. Just have a healthy supply of main shafts, spindle shafts blades and skids. Possibly a main gear or two.

Consider an oxy 2 also. I have not flown mine yet. a 200 class heli, sub 250 class. Mains are 215mm on the sport which is stretched. The kit is normally a 190mm when not stretched. Just south of $400 is what it would to build minus batteries and fbl. The kit is designed for the micro fbl systems but will fit a VBar Neo. I don't know of another full size fbl units that will fit it. The Neo is just barely small enough to.work. As for batteries 3S 850s to 3S 1000s will work just fine.

Do your research and see what parts will cost. Go with the cheaper option on a parts perspective. If the blade is cheaper to repair then go that route. There was a few 230S owners on here. Not sure if they are still active on the forum.

This is my horrible attempt at a backflip with my K120.. obviously I crashed at the end because the heli got away from me and it’s windy.. but I’ve been doing backflips all day.. smoked the main gear on this crash so back to fixing.. know how high I need to be and luckily I was over grass..

One thing I noticed was you were adding collective to the helicopter as you were pulling back on the elevator. This will help to drive it to the ground. When you start to pull the elevator, you should already be close or right at mid stick on your collective. I know it's not a helicopter, but it's the same principal, but here is a video of my DarkMax quad where I'm doing some flips. You can clearly hear the motors and how I over exaggerate the punch to give it that "floaty" look.

Flips start just after the 2:00 mark. Every time you hear the Tx beep, that is when I go below 10% throttle.

I was doing backflips earlier much better than this.. when I went to video it, wouldn’t you know, I crashed.. I’ll try ease on the throttle when the heli is upside down.. in this video I’m not giving it negative collective.. just going up and holding the elevator back..

Here's how tight I try to keep my flips. It's not a small heli but give you an idea how my Gaui X3L reacts. I can't tell you stick control but like everyone mention muscle memory. Also lots of practice, practice and more practice. On sim, if you have one.

That’s where I want to get to.. I’d try it on a bigger heli but I know I’ll crash.. I’ve got my Trex 250 so once I’m comfortable with the K120 the 250 is my next step

+1 on having spare parts.. just ordered 4 main gears for this K120
