450 3gx Tail Is Way Too Sensitive

I set up my 450 trex but I don't know what setting Is used to desensitize the tail, while hovering If you barely touch the tail stick it rotates too quickly, I am a fairly new pilot and need to tame it some . I have the computer program but need to know what controls the piro rate

Add some expo, and/or reduce the dual rates in the transmitter. I would start with adding expo first, and only decrease the dual rates if you need to. Most transmitters take positive expo, but if you`re using Futaba, you`ll need top add negative expo.

Usually if you set your tail to full travel it will have a very linear feel. I have never set any DR or Expo in a tail, but might help if you are having difficulty.

what does the Delay do in the set up. all videos I've watched say to set the delay to 0 but the lowest mine will go is 10 , Does the Delay have anything to do with tail sensitivity , I have had other trex heli's and never had this problem

It has nothing to do with sensitivity, it has to do with the time in which the gyro starts to react to a movement and to correct it. 10ms is pretty good for most setups since the 3GX is quite hard to actually get to 0. It can be done, and I do have a video where I show exactly what needs to be done, but I can't remember which of the 20 videos it is lol.

Is the Delay what controls that ? I don't know what the Delay Does, I connected the heli to the computer and watched the settings and tried to set the Delay to 0 but under the Red light it will only go down to 10, I am running version 2.0 and I know I can up grade versions but this is my only concern rite now, The Torque compensation is not holding rock solid ether but I'm trying to adjust that better

From my understanding of the unit, 2.0 is the version to stick with. 5 has a tip of death on take off and I think its 4 that has the tail blow out of death. Not sure what the issues were with 3.

Thanks for trying but like I said I have the program and it will not go any lower than 10 ! My original question has still Not been answered , WHAT DOES THE DELAY DO !

I have answered your question, twice as a matter of fact. Delay has to do with the time in which the gyro starts to react to a movement and to correct it. So if the tail moves (wind or whatever, outside forces not from the stick) the delay will wait a predetermined amount of time before starting to react to that movement. It is useful on slower servos to stop hunting otherwise known as tail wagging not to be confused with oscillations.

sorry,I did'nt understand you before, So if the delay is not at 0 with a high speed servo it could cause my problem. Now I don't know haw to get 0. when I move the stick to decrease the Delay value the graph will only go to 10 before it changes light color and starts going back up,then when I go the other way I can not get it to go to 0 ,as soon as the light goes red again it starts on 10

No apology needed, it's all good. The delay, especially at 10ms won't cause this issue. I'm thinking the tail blades are not completely set correctly. I would double check the tail endpoints in the Limit menu just to be safe. Below the video will start at 3:30 where I start the Limit setup on the tail. Make sure the slider moves all the way one way and then the other after the status light flashes.

As for the delay, I'm guessing you are looking at the menu on the computer when you are doing this. The only thing I can think of as to why it would not go to 0 is a mismatch in version. You can have one version on the computer and adjust settings in another version on the gyro. Make sure the versions match on both and if you are not sure, go ahead and flash the 3GX with new firmware just to be safe. I only suggest using 2.1 as it is the most stable on the ground and in the air. 3.1 has a tip over issue on the ground and 4 and 5 both have tail issues in the air. So 2.1 is what I will always suggest people use.

OK Thanks, I will reflash the unit, My program says it's 2.0 now so I will do 2.1 and see what it does.

I down loaded and installed version 2.1, It now says 2.1 on the program and said installed successful. I redid all the settings but the tail Delay still will only go down to 10, I try to very gently move the rudder stick but 10 is the lowest I can get, I flew it and it fly's the same as it was, I added more gyro gain and expo and it is better but still not as good as 3 other helis I have with 3gx controllers. Thanks for all your responses . I'll keep making small adjustments and see what happens
