I received my DFC head kit from Gratt, it includes the main shaft.

The shaft itself, is shorter , but fits OK. But :
1) Being shorter, it has a highr risk of hitting the tail boom on a hard landing or even in flight
2) On the other hand, less chance to bend in case of accident.

I have a genuine Align DFC shaft which is about 15mm longer, should I use this instead? This will reverse the two above comments. This shaft has the fixed black collar ring on it.

Looking forward to your comments

Myself I would use the genuine Align shaft by preference, kind of depends if you have made the links yet.
If you have a fixed collar the only consideration is having the shims to get rid of any vertical play if any.

Hi Admiral,

I will definetely use the Align shaft, the main reason is that with the shorter shaft, raising the throttle to the top, doesn't matter what I tried, once the head is added onto the shaft, the swashplate hits it...

I will make new links

A 3rd thread on the same heli? .... sort of makes it hard to keep up with what's been said, suggested and asked when it's spread over 3 different threads. In the future you may want to consider keeping your like threads together to make it easier on others and yourself to keep up with.
