General Trimming a Plane

When trimming a plane...is it best to trim the plane out at mid-stick while it's in the air?

Possibly starting with the elevator, then ailerons, then rudder?

When I'm putting a plane in the air for the first time, I will trim it at about half to 3/4 throttle. When you throttle some planes up that don't have any angle built into the motor mount, they will pitch up pretty badly. And as for what to trim, I start with whatever is out the most. If it's wanting to do back flips, I will go to 3/4 throttle, then use my left hand to reach over and start hitting that elevator trim. Then, I will move onto the next one which is usually the ailerons. Rudder is usually pretty close since you mark them with a straight edge. Hope this helps.
