Trucks Tmaxx 2.5 Wont Start, Sticks At Tdc

Hi,

I have been getting my trucks ready for the year. My Tmaxx sticks at TDC using the handheld traxxas starter with a fresh batt. If I remove the glow plug the engine will spin freely, however when the glowplug is put back in it will stop at TDC, I can force it to move past TDC using a screwdriver on the fly wheel and compression feels good doing that, but for whatever reason it will not do that using the handheld starter unless the plug is out.

Does anyone know what is going on?

Thanks in advance,

Gator

2 thoughts come to mind.

1, your starter motor is getting a little tired and just not able to put out the torque required to spin the engine over. This is quite likely.

2, the compression is too high, likely caused by some oil in the cylinder which requires more power to spin it past TDC. Best option here is to heat the head up with a heat gun or a hair dryer to about 80C or so reducing the pinch on the piston.
