ESC Setting up a YEP

Hey all I am setting up a YEP esc on the program card have the 500MX 1600kv motor, I think its a 6 pole from what i have read. Down on the PWM frequency setting I take my motor KV 1600 X battery cells X poles (6) divided by 20 and get 2,880. The card however only reads to 16 kHz....do I just set that to that or am I missing something???

If you are running 6cell, then the formula is.
1600 x 22.2 x 6 / 20 = 10656
So you PWM would be 10kHz

Lol yeah I had one of those slap your head moments last night when I realized it was KV X the actual voltage of the battery!
Duuuuuhhhh! Thanks Lee, Tony!
Although now my motor and ESC are getting hot. Should I lower the motor timming or something? It's on 18 I think right now.

Low pole count motors require a lower timing.
Poles are the number of magnets in the motor, not the number of stator arms. (just to clarify) :)
On the program card set the PWM to 10 and the Timing to 6º.
If 6º doesn't make the motor hot, then you could try 12º, but i think 6º should be good.
