I will be using 3/8" tarp grommets for about passages under the skirt and also for a skid surface as to not mess up bottom of the skirt during fast stops..

Was actually thinking of using many 80mm edf for the main lift unit at first but that would have meant more weight cuz i would have had to have a 6s pack for it and a 3s pack for the drive motor. So i figure i will get a nice sized 3s or 4s pack... have a free more mods in mind for it so will definitely post More photos... and thanks everyone it had bitten a project i have wanted to do for awhile an finally got around to doing it...

Autocorrect has been butchering your posts lately. :)

So the grommetted section will be down facing, instead of having a totally open bottom?

I built a gas powered rc hovercraft when I was a kid. It was a lot of fun. The really hard part is the skirt and I could never get that quite right. So what I ended up using was just a bicycle inner tube. I used one of the thorn resistant versions so it was very tough. This is cheating because I just pumped it full of air and glued it to the styrofoam. But it work extremely well it had the added advantage of keeping the Kraft a float when the gas motor would die out on the middle of the lake.

Anyway cool project and good luck!

My hovercraft the main platform it's made from 3 1/2"thick sheets of celefoam glued together with canopy glue I will do a buoyancy test in the tub to test it's buoyancy ON VIDEO of course. ... lol I will have to order the highest mah 4s pack our packs i can for it hehehe I want some substantial run time. .. lol if how i got the skirt doesn't work i will have to scrap that skirt and start over i just didn't want a huge oval hole in the middle of it like all the other hovercrafts I have seen on YouTube i want to keep mine a little neater and durable and to just look a lot cooler then all the ones i have seen. ... lol am i wrong fire wanting that? Lol

welll i completely forgot about the boyancy test well will be the next video i shoot tonight but here are some updated photos of the skirt finished and attatched to the main deck i will do the boyancy test with the skirt on i will even push down on the deck to see how boyant it is if it takes a great deal of force to get it to submerge even a little bit...
20140131_095556.jpgi will use this harness to run 2 2200mah 3s packs for longer runtimes and to keep weight down
20140720_124444_resized.jpg20140720_124510_resized.jpg20140720_124627_resized.jpg i think for the finished version it will have only grommets around the outer rim of the skirt and few skattered through evenly through the centerfor skid protection to keep from tearing up the skirt when you stop it and deflate the skirt also it took FOREVER!!!!!! to put all those grommets on MY GOD!!!! LOL as is there is about 300 grommets i think another reason is it might be kinda heavy and hard for the prop to inflate the skirt i will do a test video for that also... well enjoy tell me what you think and any advice thanks
