Just wondering what everyone's opinion is of what the safe operating temperature is for brushless motors and/or ESC's. I've heard Castle Creations recommends no more than 180 F for their motors and about to 210-220 for their esc's. I've been playing with a lot of numbers on ecalc to get the best performance while not over working my power system. above is the site I've been using. It is pretty spot on as far as numbers. Let me know what you guys think

how is everyone monitoring this? I have an infrared gun, but by the time you land and pull the wing on a plane wouldn't it have cooled down too much. ?

Obviously I don't have any fancy feedback on my equipment so that is out lol.

There is Telemetry modules that you can connect to many different Tx's. And some of the higher end ESC's have logging software built in that will tell you the temp of the ESC.

It's not going to cool down that much. Leave it plugged in for a short bit while you shoot a temp or two. USually, though, when you slow down a motor it dumps heat out so it will jump up a bit right when you land.
