Quad Quadcopter Configuration

On the Tarot X4 (a true "X" frame quadcopter, I imagine the flight controller is in the middle (on the CoG and in between the motor centers).

Where would the flight controller be located on a quad, such as the Sky Hero Spyder? Would that be in between the motor centers (likely behing the CoG) or would it be located at the CoG (likely in front of the middle of the quad)?

For the best flight characteristics, it will be located right in the middle of the motors. That way it can sense any and all movement of the quad.

I have a 360 size quad with the Naze32 in the middle and the COG slightly aft. (Until I get the camera and gimbal mounted at the front.)
You can see in the Blackbox logs that the rear motors are having to work harder to compensate for COG error.
