I was doing a little surfing on the net and found a few places that carry ESC's that are reflashed just for multirotors.
The firmware was wrote by Simon Kirby and he goes by the name of Simonk on most forums.
His firmware means direct, linear throttle response, making it suitable for multicopter use.
Up to 600Hz input rate is supported, with immediate updates to motor pwm duty.
Less high pitched motor Whine.

A few places you can find these reflashed esc's at are:

RCTIMER.com
AbuseMark.com
MULTIRCSHOP
fpv4ever.com

Here is some documentation on why these esc's are better for multirotors....
Also some of them are branded as RapidESCs.

My escs in the new QAV are flashed. Got mine from the openpilotstore.eu
They are amazing. Super fast response rate, giving a much smoother flight.

Yep I was pretty sure you had already tried them... I used the USBASP programmer and flashed some of my HobbyWing ESCs.
Makes a big difference. A lot of the info I got was from the open pilot forum and RC Groups.
