General How to guage wind speed?

What tricks have y'all (yes, originally from Southern US) to help you judge wind speed? Anyone go as far as an anemometer? Ribbons, grass in air, spit into wind and see if it comes back, etc...

Or, as I suspect, is experience the best tool?

Here is a good representation of what you should be seeing with various wind strengths.
But after a while, as you say, it comes down to experience.

It could handle quite a lot.
But what it can handle and what is fun to fly in are very different.
I would say top of Force 3 bottom of force 4. 15mph steady would be fun.
You could fly it in 20mph. Would it be fun?? Yes for an experience flyer. For a novice it could be a nightmare :D

I agree with Lee here. Try to stay under 10mph constant. Even in that, you can get 25mph gusts that can cause you to think it's going ot crash. Landing is fun in those kind of winds though. Catch a gust just right, and your plane will land going backwards lmao.

Rule of thumb: Remove canopy and sit on ground while fitting battery, if it blows away it is too windy to fly. Sound silly but about right on.

hahaha, if you look like a moron chasing down a piece of fiberglass, then go home. It's too windy to fly lmao. I like that. Great visual.
