FBL Gyro GY401 wire length

Hay Guys, Quick ? on my gyro. I found a nick in the signal wire I need to repair. My ? is, the cable is 17 in. long and since I have to cut it anyway,
can I make it shorter or is there a reason it's that long.

You can make it shorter. Just be careful on the soldering and don't get the board too hot.

I'll be keeping the splice a good 6 in. away from the gyro and stager the splice to keep them separate
