ESC External BEC

Why on this Eflite Viper if we plug the ESC into the throttle port it will power up fine but if we use a external BEC with the same voltage output the receiver will not power on. Its the AR636. What am I missing here?? This is a new plane he just got today. Thanks

I've had similar issues which were resolved by linking the BEC Neg wire to the ESC Neg wire

Hey Keith, thanks for that, that actually worked. Not even gonna try to figure it out why.... lol
