Hi all, browsing through I came across a thread about disposing of batteries. Attached is a pdf of something I picked up on that subject from a website a while back. I know that it works having used it myself. I just go to step 5.
My preparation is to discharge as much as possible via a motor, cut the battery's wires SEPARATELY to different lengths and strip back the insulation to expose a short section of the wire. I retain the connectors "just in case" for future use.

Be careful, they are dangerous things, I've seen some nasty pictures of burn victims. Also visit www.optifuel.co.uk as a source of information. They recommend not to use a battery, which shows any signs of "puffing" (swelling).
