Cars DBXL servo failure

Hey guys,
I have one of these, and the steering servo decided to give out on me. Just that all too familiar smell of burning electronics...
I'm going to get a better servo in there, but generally speaking, what would cause that servo to give out? was driving, and nothing untoward had happened, but if the servo saver failed, would that potentially put too much pressure back through the servo and kill it?
Anyone else have one of these? Anyone finished upgrading to alloy parts?

Could have been a bad motor or too much load on it. The servo saver is only there to absorb the shocks from hitting something. If you were in a bind (got the car stuck or something) then it would constantly be trying to center itself and would over heat.

At the time it was doing a simple right hand turn. I have put on different tires, not as much flex, so could have been a few things. Will get a better servo anyway.
Thanks Tony
