Quad Curious Quad Question

Well, for the longest time, I've wanted a tricopter. The tricopter may just get put to the back burner, for now....maybe....depending on what decisions I make over the next few weeks.

I need to know....on a basic scratch built quadcopter (no GPS, no auto level, no "bells and whistles", just a quad with a kk2.5 board, 4 motors, 4 props, a bit of wire, a receiver, and a battery...how many ports are being used on the rx? Would that be just the basic 4 channels (throttle, aileron, elevator, rudder)?

Thanks guys!

Thanks Lee!

Another question...when setting up my DX8 for a quad copter....would that be on an "Airplane" profile or "Helicopter" profile?

Helicopter has mixing normally, which you definitely don't want on a quad.
Also if you use a KK2 I would call 5 channels minimum unless you intend to permanently enable auto level.
Although that is not such a bad idea, I never turn it off on mine.

Oh, Oh, I know this one!
The 5th channel turns the stability option on and off, the book calls for it to be on the Flaps switch.
Took me 3 days to figure out how to do that
