Like Randy said, it does depend on those things. If you are using a cheap plastic geared servos, or an unnecessarily stiff spring, then yes. It could overload the servo. I have been using return springs on all of my nitro helicopters for years, with no servo issues. You only need enough spring to overcome the servo when it`s not powered up. I have never released, or removed the springs on mine, unless I have to take the engine out. As Randy also said above... we do need a little more information, to be able to help you properly.
