I would suppose that would depend on which engine and carb ( as well as if it's a stock spring or not )... and the servo you are using... you gave none of that info so perhaps you should start there...

Like Randy said, it does depend on those things. If you are using a cheap plastic geared servos, or an unnecessarily stiff spring, then yes. It could overload the servo. I have been using return springs on all of my nitro helicopters for years, with no servo issues. You only need enough spring to overcome the servo when it`s not powered up. I have never released, or removed the springs on mine, unless I have to take the engine out. As Randy also said above... we do need a little more information, to be able to help you properly.
