Cars Can't Get My Old Buggy Moving Again...help!

It is a little 1:18 pro-pulse b100 buggy I bought from radio shack in like 2008 or 09. It ran fast and strong for a few years but life happened and it got put away until about 5 years ago. Charged the battery and it ran for less than a minute then it stopped and just stuttered and twitched so I put it up again. Until now.. I've now put a new esc, new receiver and a new motor in but it still doesn't move and the steering servo still just and twitches back and forth. The battery read 9v after charging. If I unplug the motor from the esc, the steering works and with a multimeter connected to the esc motor leads it gets power if I pull the throttle. Could and old nimh battery cause this sort of behavior? I'm at a loss...1543808805590614133723.jpg 1543808951383822260642.jpg 1543808805590614133723.jpg 1543808951383822260642.jpg

The battery was the first thing that I thought of when I was reading this. That looks like a 6 cell sub C pack which is 7.2 volts nominal. You can put in a 2S lipo and get more run time (a lot more) with the same physical size battery. The 2s lipo is rated 7.4v so a little boost in voltage but not much. You had said 9.6v which would be a 8 cell NiMh battery. Or am I seeing the picture wrong?...

I agree on the battery being the issue. Ever check into the brushless upgrade they have for the dromida 1:16th rc's they might fit be alot more powerful and way faster or an equivalent brushless setup
