It finally arrived! Well, it didn't take THAT long, but I had hoped it would show up Saturday. Anyways; Westy posted a video of this bird a while back. And watching that video really got me fired up! So I sold the Align 450, and got this baby - my fist nitro I might add :D

WOOHOOO! Always like Christmas on days like this :D

There's still parts missing, but they'll get here!

Oh yeah, a big thanks to Sam, Tony and Gaba who helped me figure out what would be needed and educated me on nitros in general :D

ON TO THE MAN CAVE!

The forum is seeing a lot of new birds alright. But that's just great :D Means the hobby is alive and well!

Got the Align starter and a battery for it.

P1020216.JPG

P1020217.JPG

Flying-Hobby sent the wrong battery. I ordered a 45C pack which is the correct size, but they probably ran out and sent a 65C pack instead. If this was for a 450 I would be delighted, but now the pack won't fit... But no worries, I'm sure I can swap with one of the guys in the local club. Who says no to a 65C pack, right?

P1020218.JPG

Fuel pump. I considered an electrical one, but I thought it'd be overkill considering the small tank on the NX4.

P1020219.JPG

Motor and muffler.

P1020220.JPG

The tiniest motor ever LOL :)

P1020221.JPG

Got the Align 500-series servos. I realize one's missing - it'll be delivered within a couple of days.

P1020222.JPG

The stock Gaui plastic fan reportedly warps after a while and throws out the gov magnets. So I got the Align 600 fan (supposedly, it should fit).

P1020223.JPG

Gaui glow igniter and BEC. A guy told me the 5A bec may not cut it - what you guys think?

P1020224.JPG

Radix main blades.

P1020225.JPG

Let's build a helicopter!! :)

The instructions and bags are poorly labeled. And even though some of the bags ARE labeled, the labeling does not correspond to the instructions. Even when I download the latest revision of the instructions, the updated instructions does not correspond with my bags. Parts and build quality is just as good as any bird I've built before, but the instructions are a disappointment :(

P1020232.JPG

These labels are useless.

P1020233.JPG

Sanded my frames.

P1020235.JPG

Main blocks.

P1020236.JPG

Frame brackets.

P1020237.JPG

With the instructions being so crap and the bolts and hardware randomly packaged, a caliper is a must have.

P1020238.JPG

P1020239.JPG

P1020240.JPG

P1020241.JPG

P1020242.JPG

The countersunk bolts does not go completely into the frame bits, so the surfaces is not perfectly flush. Hmmm :(

P1020245.JPG

Assembling the first bits of motor gearing.

P1020246.JPG

This little bolt is supposed to go through this shaft. But it's a incredible tight fit! I had to dry fit it first before assembling it under the main blocks.

P1020250.JPG

After a bit of fidgeting I finally got installed.

Boom mounts.

P1020253.JPG

P1020254.JPG

I believe this is for the rudder... Not sure yet.

Both frame sides assembled together :D

DUDE! I totally rate this! wicked purchase! I actually like the simple manual layout also .... the Goblin one I struggled with some parts with the black CF frames and all the screws disappearing into them.

I will be following this build as I almost ... almost pulled the trigger on this instead of the 630! .... Lucky I was allowed some extra funds or this would have bee na tough tough choice between the 500 Gobby and this!

Super Mod & DEAL KING!
Looks great Marius!! Bec can't hurt bro. I put a bec on my warp as u heard mks servos sucked juice. It's insurance abd peice of mind IMO if nothing else :)

While my align 2in1 and ds610's are doing fine on the 600.. But it can differ bird to bird

Fly safe!! :) have fun!

Thanks for the comments guys :D

Assembling the clutch bell. This assembly comes with a small revision from the instructions - an extra shim is to be installed.

P1020259.JPG

P1020260.JPG

P1020261.JPG

Stock plastic fan to the left, Align 600 fan to the right.

P1020262.JPG

Placed the fans on top each other for comparison. Perfectly identical.

P1020263.JPG

Glued in the magnets. I think I got them mounted the right way...

P1020264.JPG

Fan assembly. This also came with a revision - an extra shim here too.

P1020265.JPG

P1020266.JPG

Clutch assembly.

Landing skids.

And that's it for tonight. I ordered the missing stuff today, so if I'm lucky I'll get airborne this weekend.

Sweet dude,
I would love to give a nitro a go, but maybe i'd like to try a gasser for the cheap fuel.

Thank you for your comments :D

Continued with the build immediately after work today; main and tail gear install.

P1020277.JPG

P1020278.JPG

Head. Came pre-assembled.

P1020279.JPG

Sam warned me about ordering a bunch of parts before I got the kit - and he was right :D I ordered the red (harder) dampeners, but they were already included with the kit. Well well, guess I have spares then.

P1020280.JPG

Removed stock black (soft) dampeners, and replaced then with red (hard) ones.

P1020281.JPG

After removing the feathering shaft from the head, I thought I would add new thread lock on both the bolts. But I could not for the life of me remove the last bolt! It was on there GOOD! The people over at Gaui must have used a whole tube of red TL and applied a ton of torque on this bolt. I even warmed it up almost to the point it was glowing red - but NO GO! Well, I know it's not gonna come off during flight, so I just left it as is.

P1020282.JPG

Small note: there is a plastic shim between the head and arms, but ALSO a very thin shim that is not depicted in the instructions. I left it on there.

P1020283.JPG

Head assembled back together and checked for TL on all bolts.

P1020284.JPG

Swash, checked for TL. I'll just consider myself part of the "3D Master Club" now :D LOL

P1020285.JPG

P1020286.JPG

The instructions calls for the head to be installed now, but I will wait until I have set up my servos first.

P1020287.JPG

P1020288.JPG

And now for the "battle at man cave" against the fuel tank beast... MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD I HATED THIS ASSEMBLY. This is the most idiotic assembly I've ever come across. :( I get angry just writing about it!!

P1020289.JPG

Got some extra fuel line.

P1020290.JPG

Assembled the clunk (mistake!). This was pain in the behind - with capital B!!! Threading the line over the flanges proved extremely difficult - at one point I almost threw the whole thing out the window!!

P1020291.JPG

Found out I had to take it off again!!!!!

P1020292.JPG

Because this thing is supposed to go on first... OMG

P1020294.JPG

Now to press this assembly into the small hole in the tank. Easy? Yeeeeeeeeah......... The curse words. Oh, the curse words. The man cave was no place for children during this install that's for sure!

P1020295.JPG

Tried this method. Plugging the big piece in first, then try to press the rest in. This resulted in the whole assembly popping inside the tank!!! :( :(

P1020296.JPG

P1020297.JPG

Fished out the assmbly, had another go - this time I hurt myself and the clunk fell of the fuel line inside the tank!!!

P1020298.JPG

After taking a break to cool down, I sanded the edges of the tank- washed it out thoroughly with water - plugged the plastic end of the fuel line inside the big rubber grommet. Then I oiled the edges and grommet, used a small flat screwdriver and finally got it in there.

THIS ASSEMBLY SHOULD HAVE COME PRE-ASSEMBLED!! ARE YOU HEARING ME GAUI!!!?!!

P1020299.JPG

Even though the manual states the included fuel line is Ø5.5mm and the Align fuel lines (which I got as extra) was supposed to Ø5mm, the Align line (green) looks larger?

P1020300.JPG

Planning how fuel lines are going to be run.

P1020302.JPG

P1020303.JPG

P1020304.JPG

Tank mounted.

P1020305.JPG

P1020306.JPG

Auxiliary fuel tank. This luckily came pre-assembled! Whew!

P1020307.JPG

The aux fuel tank comes only with one single screw to hold it on to the bird, so I devised some extra support.

P1020308.JPG

P1020309.JPG

P1020310.JPG

P1020311.JPG

P1020312.JPG

P1020313.JPG

Good as gold :D

P1020314.JPG

P1020315.JPG

Got the Align fuel filter.

P1020316.JPG

Finished running the fuel lines. Nitro people, please check I've done this correct.

P1020317.JPG

P1020318.JPG

P1020319.JPG

Even though this part of the assembly took a few years of my life, I'm quite satisfied. Now I'm just hoping my Sat's and governor sensor will show up within the weekend.

Looks good to me Marius! Next time get yourself a jar of petroleum jelly to assemble things like gromits and o rings. Works wonders! Lol.

Really nice Marius. I've been looking at the X4 ii and the X5 formula. If i sell my 600, i may be tempted with one of these.

Looks fantastic! ...... Re your feathering shaft..... try warming about 20 to 25mm of the shaft to about 180ºC and holding it with your locking tool ($6.00 at HK all 4 sizes on one tool - 450 - 700) and tap the head with a soft mallet about 10 times .... it should crack free and come out !

Thanks Westy. This feathering shaft is not coming out again unless I have a crash or something is wrong :D :D :D Thanks for the tip though ;)
