General Buddy Box system question

Can this work as a buddy box system: a DX5e mode2 as master with a DX6i mode 1 as slave?

The plane is a Apprentice.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think it will work. I would connect up the Tx's and check all controls on teh master and slave tx and verify everything is moving correctly.
