i was at the field a short while ago had done 2 packs of hover practice on the 450 and a pack on the protos, i changed the battery on the 450. I had got my confidence up and thought to myself it was time for me to try to do a loop. I gained altitude and started to gain some speed i pulled back on the stick and increased the collective got to the top and gave some negative pitch as i started the decent i started to increase the collective, the sun blinded me. By the time i could see the heli i had lost orientation and bam the 450 was in the ground doing a very good impression of a rotavator.

At a glance the damage is
blades .
front umberella gear.
main gear (didnt hit throttle hold quick enough).
torque tube.
tail fin.
main shaft.

Detailed crash report to follow.

Bad luck danhampson. Had a bit of the same myself. Hover practice on the third battery and wham, tail gave out, started spinning like Kossack Dancer on strong ale. I did not think to hit the throttle hold but gently brought it down at 3 feet it stopped spinning, then I hit the throttle hold and just caught the tail end. I can not find anything wrong, belt nice and tight, everything working in the right direction. I did spray on some silicon spray before flying. Maybe I over did things. Any way I was lucky, its a bugger the sun, been caught a few times myself now I just need to get more spares in for the future. Everywhere here in the uk seem to have very low stocks of spares. Cheers

the feathering shaft is ok, but im going to strip the head to check the bearings are all ok (i have a spare bearing set for the head just in case).

The only parts i needed to order are a set of main blades.

Are you having the blow out in normal mode, or idle up? Check to make sure everything is correct on the tail, from teh servo to the blades, and make sure everything is smooth.

its blowing out in both mode. i have noticed that one of the push rod guides is loose (damaged after in the crash), ive reolaced it now and will do some testing later and post results.

Ive got the tail sorted out. it was the loose push rod guide, all was good for 2 packs.
On the third pack the 3GX decided to tip the heli over. Stripping front TT gears, rear TT gears, the main gear and the elev servo gears.
Its not been a good week so far.
so when i can afford to get the parts to fix her in going to throw the 3GX in the bin and put ar7200bx on her.
