    Prop Motor

Yeah, I guess I am building each side of the wings, and then a "mid-piece" to join them and get the correct dihedral angle. I'm now getting some sense of how to build this, and if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. It's my first scratch-built airplane so some try-and-failure is probably to be...

    Prop Motor

No, I have been talking about a trainer all along. After some reading I've now realised two motors with a kV-rating of 700 probably will fit my plane. I'm thinking about this one: Turnigy Aerodrive DST-700 Brushless Outrunner motor 700kv. Looks like this provides plenty of thrust with a low...

    Prop Motor

I see. Then I guess two of the above-mentioned motors will be more than enough for this plane. Sorry for a lot of questions, but do you think I should go with a 2-,3- or 4-bladed propeller? I can see that most RC airplanes have two, but the seller doesn't mention number of blades, only propeller...

    Prop Motor

Btw it says "max current" is 18 amperes on the motor mentioned first, while the EDF apparently draws 40 amperes. Doesn't this mean I won't need as big of an ESC, and have more than twice as long flying time?

    Prop Motor

I want to build a high wing airplane, flying nice and stable. Estimated wing cube loading is about 6 (Trainer). The wings are rectangular, due to the simplicity of building them. I know this might increase drag, but it's a 2 kg airplane so I don't think it is that important. Are these enough...

    Prop Motor

I don't know if you remember my previous tread, where I asked about EDF size for my 2 kg airplane. I have now read more, and from what I have understood, propellers are WAY more effective than EDF's, can anyone confirm this? So my question is, will two of these motors (Turnigy D2836/8 1100KV...

EDF How Much Thrust Is Needed?

Sounds great! I'll go with the 64's then, they weren't much heavier or much more expensive then the 50's, so no problem there. Thank you Tony! Btw I'll actually save power by going with two 64's instead of four 50's, so no downsides I guess? I'll give it a try.

EDF How Much Thrust Is Needed?

Ugh yeah I know. I believe it will be to heavy to fly with four of those engines. I looked at another type though, which is 64mm instead of 50mm. US$35.71 % FMS 64mm 4S 3S 11 Blades EDF Unit With KV3150 KV3900 Brushless Motor RC Parts from Toys Hobbies and Robot on banggood.com. I don't know...

EDF How Much Thrust Is Needed?

Thank you for answers. The reason I would like to use EDF's are because they don't get as easily scratched and damaged as propellers do, but I can see it has some downsides unfortunately. I think I'll just go with four engines then, just to be sure?

EDF How Much Thrust Is Needed?

Hello. Does anyone know how much thrust is needed for a 2 kg airplane? Is there any optimal thrust to airplane weight ratio? Will two of these EDF's (which in total provides about 1.2 kg thrust) be enough? US$20.99 % HTIRC 50mm 11 Blades Ducted Fan EDF Unit With 3S D2627 4900KV Brushless Motor...
