General Binding to an AR636 with AS3X and SAFE

I have a plane that I've flown for several years, always without ANY problem at all. It was a BNF with the AR636 RX, AS3X and SAFE. All of a sudden it just lost its SAFE functionality. I've tried re-binding (several times, actually) and it binds OK but WITHOUT SAFE. Do these RX deteriorate...

General Rx Programming For Pnp Plane

UPDATE re AR636 receivers: Most HH / Spektrum tech support peeps do NOT know this, but an AR636 cannot be programmed for any orientation EXCEPT flat on its back with pins to the aft. You cannot use this receiver in a PNP plane that requires the RX to be mounted on its side.

Misc. Setting "Aircraft Type" on Spektrum Radio

Does anyone know the difference between "Normal" and "1 Ail, 1 Flap" wing settings in the Aircraft Type menu under System Setup? I understand 1 Ail, 1 Flap, but have not been able to find out what "Normal" actually means. And when would you use the one versus the other?

General Eflite Clipped Wing Cub -- fuselage needed

I have this cub, which is now discontinued. Horizon still sells certain parts but not the fuselage. Does anyone know where I might get a fuselage?

General CG on the Eflite PT-17

I have a new PT-17. It's all assembled (yes, there are some tricks you need to know about !) and am now struggling a bit with the CG. Looking at YouTube, everyone seems to say the plane is tail heavy and requires 2 -4 ounces of weight in the nose. Those vids are a couple of years old. My...

General Testing Cg On A Warbird

I'm setting up my first low-wing plane that has retracts. I know that low-wing planes have to be CG tested when inverted; my question is this: Should the gear be down or retracted when I do the CG test?

    General Throw Meters

Thanks, Tony. This looks nice (if a bit pricier than the Great Planes one!).

    General Throw Meters

I'm looking for a throw meter and everyone tells me they love the Great Planes AccuThrow product. BUT, that item is discontinued. Can anyone recommend a similar product, preferably one that is calibrated in mm (although I can do the conversion if there's a product calibrated in inches).

    Choosing An Esc

    thank you, Tony!

    Choosing An Esc

Just watched an old vid by Tony to refresh my memory re sizing an ESC. Want to be sure I understand... The ESC amp rating MUST be higher than the amperage of the motor, right? The vid sounded like the ESC amp rating was also higher than the max amperage of the battery; is that correct? I'm...

General Setting Up A New Model In The Dx8 G2

I watched Tony's youtube vid on setting up a new model (presumably it was the G1 TX since it was dated 8 years ago!). It was great, as far as it went. I'd love to have a detailed programming guide for the DX8G2. . . something that goes through each and every menu item (from the Function List...

General Rx Programming For Pnp Plane

I've got an FMS Sky Trainer 182 (a/ka/a Cessna). It's a PNP so I have to program the AR636. The problem is that it's incredibly difficult to maneuver around inside this plane and space is tight. There is only one place to locate the RX: on the side of the inside of the fuselage. So the RX has...

    Servos Selecting An Aftermarket Servo

OK . . . will try. Photographing flight is tough. I tried once (with the wife as photog) and it was -- uh uh -- not so successful! BTW Tony, may I ask what part of the country you call home?

    Servos Selecting An Aftermarket Servo

A quick question from your friendly linguist: Is there a difference in meaning / usage between "cobber" and "mate" ?

    Servos Selecting An Aftermarket Servo

Thanks man! You're amazingly helpful. And congrats on being bi-lingual!

    Servos Selecting An Aftermarket Servo

First, a note to the Admiral: I'm tri-lingual and one of my languages is Strine, so go ahead and talk in your native language; i'll translate for Tony if necessary ! LOL Tony, that servo looks good and it's inexpensive ($7 each in the two pack). Just to be sure about the Emax ES08MDII Servo ...
