    General intro?

The servos don't need to be exactly 90 degrees, just close. If you have a servo horn with arms on both sides, 180 degrees apart, try flipping the horn 180 degrees. Most of the main hubs on the servos have an odd number of teeth, so flipping might get you closer to 90 degrees before resorting...

General 450 Pro 3GX V2 Still cant get it in the air!!!!!

That's what I said, but I was sure that he'd gone over gyro reversal several times. The fact that the rotation accelerates and gets worse once it starts is a definite clue that the gyro is making things worse, provided that pilot input with a reversed rudder direction wasn't trying to "correct"...

General 450 Pro 3GX V2 Still cant get it in the air!!!!!

He has a torque tube, and you cannot get those backwards. You CAN get the blade grips spun around backwards though on the tail. We need a detailed photo of the tail from a few different angles just to make certain that this did not happen.

    500 Tomorrow, it flies.

Ahh, gotcha. For some reason I was thinking that the big machine that you had was a nitro. :biglaugh: Do you have any data plots from your CC to share? Too high of a gain can also cause oscillations in the head speed, just like excessive tail gain on the tail gyro can. It is a much slower...

General 450 Pro 3GX V2 Still cant get it in the air!!!!!

Training gear allows us to see how much it was spinning without risking a tip-over, thanks for getting it installed. That is a lot of spinning, and it looks like it accelerates as the movement increases. My first guess would be that the gyro direction is reversed, but it sounds as if you have...

General 450 Pro 3GX V2 Still cant get it in the air!!!!!

Just as an FYI, most setups cannot keep the tail perfectly still during a fast spool up. At low head speeds, there simply isn't enough power in the tail to keep it from spinning. The trick is to spool up slowly. If it still spins, likely something is wrong. One thing you can do is get some...

    500 Tomorrow, it flies.

I am making a flight data recorder for the helicopters as well. I plan on having it all open source when I get done with it. I am using a Maple Mini from Leaf Labs Info at SparkFun. It is a 72MHz 32bit microcontroller that is mostly Arduino compatible, but it spanks the Arduino in performance...

The Castle Creations ESCs are programmable from your computer using their "Castle Link" USB device. The thing costs $20, but you get a coupon code for a free one from their website when you purchase their ESCs, so you just have to wait a few days instead of spending extra money. Some of their...

OK, here are my CC settings. Phoenix ICE 100A Throttle: Vehicle Type: Helicopter Throttle Type: Governor Mode Governor Mode: Governor High Auto-Rotation: Enabled Initial Spool-Up Rate: Medium (5) Governor Gain: Medium (25) Head Speed Change Rate: Medium (5) The maximum...

I thought that default was "Low". Medium is 25. I will check it in a few moments. I have robots vacuuming my floors at the moment and I don't want to have cables on the carpet. :biglaugh: - - - Updated - - - Which heli are you talking about Marius? I thought that you had a 450 and your...

    500 Tomorrow, it flies.

I am also flying with a 1400kV motor that has a lot more power than the stock 1600. I would be willing to bet that your current draw is probably a lot less. CC has a calculator that will tell you what the max governor setting is, and if you set the throttle on your TX any higher than that, you...

Elevator bobble? - - - Updated - - - There is a bit if backwards tendency with this helicopter, I think I need to either put more weight in the front, or lengthen the elevator link. The swash is level though, so I suspect that it is a balance issue. The bobbing you are seeing in the tail is...

    500 Tomorrow, it flies.

Oh man, that was fun. Nerve-wracking without shadows and lower contrast thanks to the clouds... but fun. Video coming up. Collective response is much higher without the training gear. Good thing that I am learning without it, I don't feel like re-learning. Stokke, I can pull the logs for ya...

    500 Tomorrow, it flies.

Weather pretty nasty outside... overcast and breezy. I will try to get a flight in anyways. I usually do poorly in overcast conditions since there is no shadow for altitude reference. Now if I can just keep it one piece without the training gear attached, I will be happy.

    500 Tomorrow, it flies.

Once I stockpile enough spare parts to cover most accidents, I will be fine. Right now I am nervous since I don't have the spare cash to buy up parts since I am planning a cross-country trip to visit family in Florida starting next week. I'd like to keep the helicopter in one piece until I get...

    500 Tomorrow, it flies.

Thanks. I took the training gear off this evening and did a quick 2 minute flight to see the flight differences. I was a bit nervous since it was getting dark and my only safety glasses are tinted and were way too dark to see through at the time. I get a little nervous with 400mph parts being...

Alright, I can try that. It might take a lot of training to get rid of the input error though.

Looks like I am going to have to go back to using my thumbs and index fingers to "pinch" the sticks. I always end up giving a little left rudder when moving the collective any distance from the middle. :(

OK, so don't select retrieve file and store locally then? That is what I have been doing, so maybe just uncheck the retrieve button. - - - Updated - - - There... I fixed it. :) What do you make of that governor? Can't wait to get better at flying this thing so that I can really make the...
