Flight Controllers Naza M V2 setup with DX8

Good Evening
I have another thread over in Quads about my bird, but this one is about the NAZA M V2 itself and setting it up with the DX8.
I have done a lot of reading and youtube vids about the setup and programming and have managed to get most of the way through it, however now I am stuck.
The Flight Mode switch should select GPS, ATTI and Manual. All the info I read said to set your endpoints to about 85% then use the sub trim to dial it in on the sweet spot in the assistant software. OK, I did all that and mine looked exactly like the one on the video, connected up to PC and adjusted to get GPS and Manual to work, however, with the switch set to midpoint, the software slider goes to failsafe instead of ATTI. How the heck do you get it to go there?
Also not sure I have the Home switch set up correctly yet.
Also, during the setup, Motor test. Apparently when you click the motor buttons on the software, each motor should spin with its respective button, haven't been able to get that to happen. The kid on the video runs through some of that stuff pretty fast.

The installation was pretty easy, had to trim the guide keys on the provided 3 wire cables to plug them into the Spektrum 6200 Rx I have
This guys video was Very helpful and where i got the most info.

This kid KNOWs his stuff but doesn't speak dinosaur for my benefit
He has a series of vids that are helpful, he just goes a little too fast for me on some of it.

What receiver are you using? You need a 8 Chanel RX to get it to work properly. Smaller Rx's don't have enough Chanel's to get everything to work!

Hmmm...I have a 6 channel Spektrum AR6200 on there.
Don't see why that would mess with the flight mode though, its working on both ends, just not the center

I have the same set up. You will definitely need an 8 ch RX. Set all end points in the TX to 100% before dialling in on the assistant. Set the 0 and 2 positions first and no1 position should be right. If you would like the TX file I will try and put it on here for you to download if this helps. The TX sticks and switchs must be calibrated in the assistant before you can test the motors. Just make sure your end travel is at 100% before calibrating. Hope this is of some help.

Thanks Andy
I finally got past that point, took a bit. I finally figured out that the Subtrim had to be set and it was on a different menu.
Now I need to get home before dark when its not raining, I think this thing is about reaty to try and fly.

Don't forget to calibrate your Gps before flying. It can be a bit of a bugger toggling the switch to get into cal mode.

Hey Sixfooter, I dont mean to highjack your thread but i'm having some of the same isseus with my Naza M V2
watched the same vids and then some on setting up my DX8
But i cant get my sticks to calibrate on the assistant software????
it like the RX ( AR8000 ) is not seeing my TX ( DX8) ???? OR Naza is not seeing my RX. ???

I keep getting a CFG-ERR error panel popping up.

any advice or suggestions will be very appreciated.

Thanks,

You most likely have already done this but here goes anyway. It sounds as if it is not bound. Try rebinding and make sure your wires are in the right way around. The AR8000 is the opposite to most other spektrum RX in that the signal wires go to the bottom. Check in the assistant to make sure it's talking to the Naza. Also check that all switches on the TX are in the right positions ( don't ask how I found this out ). I hope this helps a bit.

Karubah, thanks for the reply

yeah your right.... i've tried to rebind it and also tried with and without failsafe mode.
it seems like its binding just fine. Tx beeps and goes to home screen and Rx flashes and the goes to solid red.

i tried making a new Aero model on my Tx and then binded it to the Rx and plugged in a Servo into the Ail channel to see it i could get it to move and NO JOY !!!!
i've been told that should be a good way to test to see if the Rx is getting a signal from the Tx...

So its either the Rx is bad or i don't have the Tx set right
Also check that all switches on the TX are in the right positions ( don't ask how I found this out ).

so i'm still not convinced that i've got the Tx set up right ( swithes in the right positions )

Just for grins, i'm attaching a screen shot of the error panel that's popping up hoping someone will see it and know what my problems are.
Anybody???

Freechips has a lot of good info, but he doesn't do mush for problems, he will answer questions if he can over on his blog on RCGroups.
So, it looks like you got something to work one time or another or your sliders would not look like they do in the screen shot.
The error states that you need to recalibrate your TX, I would try that, I don't remember how, but I read it somewhere, suposedly it eliminates some problems with unstable signal links and the like.

Did a search before sending, here is a video

Thanks Karubah,

Yes, I used his video on the DX8 to set up my Tx, But i didn't know about his web page, so good!!! Got it Bookmarked....
never tried to download a .spm file for my Tx. Matter of fact, i've never even removed the SD card that came with my DX8 !
So maybe thats another DARK rabbit hole i can go down in this adventure :)

Thanks again for your help and the Link!!!

Everyone

Found the problem :chickendance:

On the Spektrum Ar8000 Rx you have to have the Remote Rx plugged in for it to get the proper Bind.... :waa:

I have always had a DSMX remote Rx for it but i did not want to plug it in until i had everything set up so i would no what would be the proper location

So i did not no that the Ar8000 would not work without the Remote RX,

Thank you very much for all your advice and help

Will try to mount everthing tonight and put the top on it to get it ready for its maiden.

Thanks Again,
Mark - Dallas

I think I have finally worked out all the issues on mine also. Got it to throttle up without trying to flip over, if I tilt it the motors all try and compensate for the motion like they should.
Now to get some daylight to play in...
