Great job, Tony. I'm not an anti-smoking zealot, having grown up with and been around smokers my entire life. But for those that choose to quit it is a good thing, and very tough to do, so I congratulate you on both taking the initiative and sticking with it!

Well, today I stopped off at the Vape shop and picked up my first RBA. What is an RBA? It stands for a ReBuildable Atomizer. You wind your own coils, you use your own wick and you make it the way you want.

Sadly, my Vamo V5 will NOT do sub ohm, or less than 1 ohm. I think 1.1 ohm is the least it will do. But I have just built a single coil that is hitting 1.3 ohms and it's doing pretty well. I don't like the wick though and I'm going to boil some cotton and try that. I WILL find the perfect hit lmao.

I am quite serious about that though. My family has what's called a Protein C deficiency. It causes DVT's, or Deep Vein Thrombosis, or blood clots in the legs. It killed my dad when he was 35 and it killed my uncle when he was 33. I'm 34. No better blood thinner than alcohol hehe.

Man, this vaping thing is as addictive as smoking lmao. As you all know, I picked up the Vamo V5 a while back and LOVE it. I put a Cartomizer on it and man, the flavor is just intense. I'm just tired of going through cardo's all the time. Can't seem to keep them around. So, I started playing with Drippers.

The first one that I picked up was the IGO-W. It's a little guy, but you cna do a single, dual or even a quad coil on this little guy. Man, that quad would get hot as hell lol. so I tried it out with my 18mg cinnamon. Yeah, trashed both sets of O-rings on that thing. So I said the hell with it. I need something that has a tank. So I picked up a Smoke Tech RSST. It's a Genisis style Rebuildable Atomizer (RBA) and started playing with it. I am still trying to find my flavor for it, but I think I have found the mods that I need to do to it.

Right now I'm running a 9 wind micro coil on it with some 500 stainless steel mesh running it at 7 watts. I have drilled out the air hole to 2mm and have it filled with Double Chocolate. This thing chucks the vape like no other! I"m talking mad vape.

Now, I want to build another IGO-W with a dual coil and cotton and see if I can get the same thing out of a dripper. I"m hoping to get even more vape out of that one.

My next step? A mechanical mod with a kraken atomizer on top of it running sub ohms. Yup, this has just turned into another hobby lol.

Dang. You know that you're probably going to end up modding it to such an extent and taking such strong hits off that thing that you'll end up doing more damage to your lungs than if you were still smoking. :)

Nah, it's all vapor and not smoke. And, I'm down to 6mg nicotine instead of the 18 that I'm hitting with teh cinnamon. So my nic level is going down. It's just the clouds are getting much bigger lmao. And, I only hit the Genisis style at night. The Carto is my primary.

Yeah, yeah. Then two years later someone develops cysts and sues the vape shop, the vaporizor company, and the juice company and it all comes out they have been sitting on evidence of cancer causing agents in the vapor for years and that it's really Marlboro behind the whole fad. ;)

Kidding, but only half way. I do fully expect some evidence of these things being horrible for people too, to come out in a couple of years. And I'll be fighting the good fight for vaper's to be able to vape up in public then too.

The majority of e-liquid only contains a few basic ingredients ... most of which are already used and have been tested safe for human consumption.

The two main ingredients... PG is propylene glycol ... and VG which is vegetable glycerin. These are commonly used as bases in things medical products such as medicine you take, shampoos and so many other products you can almost find it on most of the labels in your own cabinets right now. The PG and/or VG that is used in e-liquid is typically pharmacy grade and/or food grade.

I have read in "scare" news stories about e-liquid containing the same stuff as what is found in antifreeze... and it's true that propylene glycol can be used as an antifreeze but it isn't very good because it evaporates too quickly so it doesn't have a long lifespan and it's also non-toxic besides. What these stories are trying to do is confuse people with the types of antifreeze that contain ethylene glycol which is very toxic

The other main component are the flavorings that are being used. Again, the majority of the flavorings are again food grade products which have been tested and used for years. There have been a handful of these products ( food grade ) that are fine for normal ingestion but aren't good to be inhaled... one is something that makes the juice have a buttery or creamy flavor and then the standard cinnamon flavorings that used to be used... These, once found have been replaced by the reputable companies that produce these products.

The other main product is of course the nicotine... Despite what the FDA, some less than reputable news media groups would have you believe... Nicotine does not cause cancer... it is an addictive drug though. It also must be used in extremely high concentrations ( which are not used in e-liquids ) to be considered poisonous. The only ties nicotine has with cancer are almost always brought in by the burning of the plant matter ( tobacco in this case ) as well as other sources that have TSNA's present. The prime risk with having a nicotine liquid present in your house... is no different than having medicines or other poisons in your house. These should always be kept our of reach from children and animals. The nicotine liquid used for e-liquid has no known cancer causing elements in it ( TNSA's ), it is almost always pharmacy graded.

The final ingredients that are often used are water and/or alcohol ... these are used to help thin the e-liquid so it can wick to the coils. In the case of alcohol... it is also often used to extract the natural flavorings that are or can be used. Typically... if any alcohol is left in an e-liquid... it can be quickly evaporated by leaving the cap off for just a few days in a cool dry place.

There are no other ingredients typically used in most e-liquids than just those... Any stories you read of any type of danger... are the news media or others just trying to make a story up for their own agenda... They are not based on any known tested or proven facts whatsoever. Period....

Some additional info about some flavorings that are listed...

I'm going to touch on one other subject usually only discussed in the forums... tobacco flavors. The majority of the e-liquids out there claim to have only natural flavors such as the ones I mentioned earlier... the term "natural flavors" does not mean that the flavor comes from tobacco... it just means they are from other natural sources. So in reality, they are artificially created flavors that just sort of taste like tobacco that use natural flavorings to achieve their goal. I'll also point out that I did not use the term "synthetic" for a reason. A true synthetic ( usually created in a real lab ) is identical to the original chemical. That is why I used the term "artificial" instead... I have yet to vape an artificial tobacco that actually tasted like tobacco EVER. That doesn't mean they aren't good tasting which is another subject... they just don't taste real.

There are companies that do extract natural tobacco flavors directly from the tobacco plants themselves. Several of these companies have had their products tested to see if they contain any TNSA's... at present they haven't found any. In fact... these extraction processes that are being used typically only get perhaps ... at most... 1mg of nicotine ( usually much less ). The nicotine must be extracted using other means so must still be added to these types of e-liquids. Most of the companies that carries these do not publish any info about their products or testing... I do know of two that test each batch to ensure their's do not contain TNSA's in them. I'm sure there are many others... they just don't publicize it. The termed that has been coined for this type of e-liquid is NET or naturally extracted tobacco. These do taste like the tobacco plant/produt they are derived from but not like burning tobacco... but the natural flavor you'd get from chewing on some tobacco leaves.

There is also nothing hard about creating a good NET yourself... just a little time consuming at most. You'd take precautions similar to jaring up a fruit ( ie sanitizing )... and place your tobacco of choice in a liquid such as PG and/or VG ( alcohol or water also ) and let it sit. You'd use heat to speed it up... or if patient, just cold and a lot of time. Then take the maceration and strain and filter it... mix it with the proper amount of nicotine e-juice and more PG or VG... and thats it. NET's do have a downside ( at this time )... the natural sugars that are present as well as other solids ... can gunk the coils in your atomizer pretty quickly compared to some e-liquids. The taste itself ( depending on the tobacco chosen ) can rival the commercial ones found already... and will taste tons better than the artificial ones I mentioned.

Dammit I need a Mecanical Mod!!! Randy, do you have one that you would part with? Something that takes an 18650? lmao. I just had to wind a 13 coil with 28ga Canthol and it's at 1.5 ohms. Yes, it will fire on my vamo, but I REALLY want to run dual coil in this thing! UGH, I just need to order one... I think there are some out there that go for about $50, just have to find them. The one that I want is $175...
