General Dx8gen2 Battery

Check the size to ensure it will fit and double check the connector... if those check out, it should be fine as long as the reseller is trusted ( it's eBay after all and there are numerous reports of fake brands sold there ).

Your right about fake brand Randy but as long as he deals with PayPal...He will get his money back.

You’re right about the fake brands on eBay.. I was looking for an IMAX B6AC charger and they were about $28 on eBay but the knock off ones were $17 and there was no way to tell (by looking at them) that one was a real IMAX and the other was a fake

Never say never but it seems unlikely on the face of it that they could squeeze 4000mAh into a battery that would fit into a compartment meant for a 2000mAh ?

You should get it. Its the same price at Amain if you want to get from them and you know its real. It does fit, I put one in my Dx9 but the Spektrum brand. Its a 4000mah Lipo and it last a long time. I charge mine maybe once every couple of months.

I'm sorry guys, I'm not trying to be a dink but what's the big deal about charging your TX battery once a week? When I'm done flying, I charge my TX battery when I get home from flying and when it's done...it's ready for the next time I fly :). With my 2000 mah battery in my TX, I can fly over 50 flights/batteries easily and come no where near to 4.8 V's. That's the lowest I'll let it go. Just my opinion.

If you fly a lot then once week is probably normal. Maybe even twice a week. But if you not fly that much I would try and keep the lipo near 75%. Keeping at 100% all the time is not good for the battery.

The battery I have in my DX8Gen2 is a 2000mah battery. Would a 4000mah battery last twice as long as my current 2000mah battery? I’m charging my DX8Gen2 once a week and am tired of it.. I’m thinking of buying one of these..

I just checked the link. DO NOT BUY THAT BATTERY!

That battery is not suitable for a DX8 G2. It only works in the DX9 and gen 1 DX8 and similar transmitters which have built in charging circuitry in the Tx itself. This is why I said that a larger battery was unlikely to fit.

The DX8 G2 has the charger circuitry built into the battery module not the Tx itself. You can only use a compatible battery that has built in charger (unless you remove the battery and charge it with an external charger which would be a pain). Here is the description of the standard battery, note that it specifically mentions the built in charger: 7.4V 2000mAh 2S Li-Ion Transmitter Battery: TX Plug | Horizon Hobby

If you want extended flying time then you could buy a spare 2000mAh battery unit and swap when the first is depleted.

NB.. the 'thing' that you plug into the wall to charge a Spektrum Tx is not actually a charger, it's a simple DC power supply.

Ooops... I've been doing it wrong all of the time... LOL

Actually, I feel the majority of the built in chargers on most devices are slow and/or cheaply constructed. So I've never relied on and/or usually avoid them for either reason. Of course built in charging wasn't a thing when I started the hobby either, so it wasn't a change to continue using an external charger.

Thanks Smoggie.. I think I’ll buy a second 2000mah battery and swap them out as they get to the point that they need to be recharged. The issue I was having is that my DX8GEN2, when I do charge the battery it takes forever and usually I need to leave it plugged in over night.. I’ll go with the 2nd 2000mah battery..

Ahh now I get it, its like my DX6. Has the hole in the battery cover for charging. Theres no where to plug the charger into the transmitter it self. My bad, sorry Matt

I understand what is being said.. I am better off getting one of these..

https://www.horizonhobby.com/radios/batteries-15063--1/2000mah-tx-battery:-dx6g2-3-dx7g2-dx8g2-dxe--p-spma9602

Because it would work better with my DX8GEN2..

And that’s a good thing because I didn’t sink $34 into something I expected to work one way but ultimately it wouldn’t work the way I expected it to work so I’m happy with that..

Ultimately it’s up to me what I buy but I’m going to get another DX8GEN2 battery that is in the posted link above..

Absolutely, I would have felt like crap if you bought that (4000mah lipo) and couldn't use it. The thing is they list it under "option parts" on the Spektrum web site but its not in the DX8G2 manual.

I would have wasted $34 on that battery thinking it would have worked one way but not working the way I would have expected it to..

I’m way better off getting a second battery and swapping them out as they get depleted..
