700 Henseleit Tdr2

Thought I’d share a few details of my latest heli. It’s a Henseleit TDR2 which is a German heli that is best known as a speed machine (it holds the word speed record).

Despite its prowess at speed it was designed as an all round heli capable of any type of flying including hardcore 3D (not that I can do that stuff). It can run 700 to 800 blades.

I’ve set mine up as an all rounder, but it should still pack a big punch and have a good turn of speed.

spec is:
  • Henseleit TDR2 Carbon
  • Kontronik Pyro 800 with custom 565kv re-wind
  • Kontronik Kosmik 200 ESC
  • Hitec servos
  • Spirit Pro FBL
  • Jeti Rex3 receiver
  • 750mm NHP main and 115mm tail blades
  • 14S 4400mAh Revolectrix packs
It’s fitted with fixed landing gear but I have the optional retracts for it too which I plan to try later.

Hey there Smoggie. WOW, that's one sweet bird. You do have some sweet collection of helis. As for hardcore 3D, I seen your video's...your not to far from it.

Thanks D.O.G.

This really is an amazing heli, unlike anything else I've owned. It's very complex which goes against the flow when most helis these days are optimised for low parts count and simplicity, but when it works as well as it does on the TDR2 I like complicated. The elevator servo is an example of this, it features a belt drive which drives a rack and pinion, which runs up through the middle of the main gear and moves the swash!. It's amazing to see operating, like a Swiss watch!

No way i could have afforded it if not for getting the heli built but unflown at a great price. It had been built for a feature in a German heli magazine but the magazine went bust before the heli could be flown, which is a shame but it turned out good for me:chuckles:

The batteries are a bit special too. I couldn't get 7S batteries locally for sensible money so i got some 3S and 4S batteries and joined then to make up 7S packs. Two of these are used in the heli for 14S power.

That's one unique swash setup it has there Smoggie. Awesome! A video of that bird in action would be too cool :).

I didn’t post this because I’m still taking it super easy and getting used to the heli, but as you asked

That's one mean looking beast there Smoggie, love the swash and the great selection of electrics.

Great flight too for taking it easy.

You planning on trying a few fast passes once you used to the feel? or just fly it like your others . its a damn super nice bird but must be a pricey girl to keep if there's a mishap. I myself would play nice with her lol, she is just absolutely real pretty.

Here's the TDR2 out to play with a couple of it's stable mates last weekend. Great conditions for a change!

Someone got one hell of a great bird that's not exactly cheap nor easy to get. That is a kit that's in demand for the speed scene since the tdr speed was a limited production.

Congrats on the find and steel.
