Maybe a silly question but can any of these FPV cameras be used to simply take a video? I mean like putting it in the cockpit of a heli or plane for a on board video... Never been into FPV so thats why I ask.. Thanks

What would be better for what you want is an Action Cam, small battery powered, self contained with micro SD secure it turn it on and fly there are dozens of them on the market from GoPro down to very small ones.

I've only ever used the cheapy's but they give a reasonable result ever if they have a bit of fish eye effect, I've never wanted to smash an expensive one.

I'm with Keith on this one. RunCam makes a clone of the little square camera that is smaller than the Hero 4. I think it's called the RunCam 5. The issue with the smaller cameras is you would need to setup a ground station to record as Ivan stated. By the time you get the camera, VTX, VRX and recorder, you could have purchased the runcam. I think anyway lol.

Well if your looking for a action camera like the runcam 5, which I haven't heard much about, this is the camera I use instead of the mobuis, which I heard there not making anymore https://www.getfpv.com/runcam-2.html . I love this little camera. The picture quality is great :). just my :2c:

Yeah I was just looking at the runcam 5, 100 bucks tho... How would you start the recording on that? With the wifi?

No wifi on the runcam 5. Push button to turn on and off. The another runcam, I use, does have wifi but still turns on by button. The wifi is used to view on phones or other devices.

Look at Ivan beating me to the punches. He's pretty good for a little guy hahahaha. I kid!

As stated it would need to be started and stopped via the button on the camera. However, you could do a servo to actuate the button... More weight and girth to the setup, just spitballing ideas.

yeah that would be ok but I like the remote on-off like the servo idea... It says weight is under 2oz, my gopro is like 6oz

Yea, the gopro session is about 2.6oz. Definitely light and from what I have seen, does great at recording good video. I have never had one in hand though, so I'm unsure of a lot of things on it.
