@Tony Can you advise on what motor, esc, etc... I will need to convert this model? I think you said you have this plane which would make it easy for you to give advice on. I want to fix it up for my son to fly and don't want to worry with fuel. It will be easy for him to charge the batteries and all too. If the price is too high, I may just get a BnF somewhere. Could you also give some good planes that would be good for a beginner? Something that will get him experience but also be able to do acro when he gets more confident?

Thanks!

You may want to look at the specs for the E-flight Power 46 and then see if you can find something comparable... I don't even try to keep up with the cheapy motors/products like you tend to look at... so other than giving you a direction to start, that's about all I can do.

It calls for a range of 12x8 to 14x6 props. The plane uses 10x6 props. I suppose I should probably to with a smaller motor? I don't know. I'm thinking I should stay with 40 to 46 size equivalent but those motors call for larger props than the plane can use.

I'm the last person you want to ask about nitro to electric conversion. sorry.

Electric motors typically require larger props than their equivalent IC engine uses... You may be able to use higher pitch props to make up some of the difference in diameter but that isn't enough by itself so expect to also address it with taller landing gear.

Also, don't take the Eflite Power 46 specs as the last word on it... just use it's specs to find other equivalents from. The equivalents will likely have different prop recommendations since the Eflite series of motors are heavy and inefficient when compared to better brands IMO. Also, a google search about someone actually converting one is probably unlikely ( but possible ). Most people buy models that already designed to be electric or IC to start with since there are plenty of similar planes out there to choose from. It's usually only done when someone already has the model in question or has a deal that is too good to pass up. It's just not a simple swap is all.

The above model may be the way I will go. It uses the small 150mah lipos like my blade 120S uses. Which is a win-win. I can purchase more batteries and use them on either aircraft.

Thanks anyway guys.
