So I'm working on printing my last (hopefully) revision of the battery base plate for the Micro Alien. I'm also attempting a video lapse of the print. I purchased some 'space gray' filament for this purpose. This base plate is meant to add a bit of thickness to the bottom of the frame to keep the screw heads from possibly damaging the battery pack. I don't know but I think that is all it will be good for. I'd like to think it will add some rigidity but the screw heads will only be seated on 1mm thick PLA material. So there is the possibility of the plate breaking in a crash. This is what is called R&D. if that doesn't work, then I'll add a half mm to the thickness and make another one.

So I just spent the last two hours printing and cleaning up a great looking part that DOESN'T FIT! I failed to check the distances of the four corner holes after resizing the outer dimensions of the plate. I have now fixed it and will print another one. I need to figure out how to get this stringing to a minimum. Here it is with the four screws that actually fit.

Study up on constraints. That would have saved you the hassle of the holes moving when you made the outside larger or whatever you did.

So I did some research on reducing stringing while printing. I learned about combing. This is very nice. Whilst printing my last revision of the battery base plate, I encountered lots of stringing on the holes and in the cutouts. There was lots of cleaning. This time I enabled combing for the whole model and so far it looks great. When printing finishes in about an hour I will post a photo of it. Hopefully this will be the last time I have to print it.

Ordered some new props couple days ago. 3061 are too much for my motors so went with 3045. I will see how they perform. I really hope it makes for a smooth flight and no tree limb landings.
