Get Val On The Getner

Did you see that Cape value around Lawton? That was pretty high.

Yeah I saw that earlier, just before I went and laid down for a bit.

Now somewhere by Noble... the Cape is around 3500 give or take ( remember these are usually off of model data so it's not a measurement ). A bit west of Ardmore is in the 4100 range.

The boundry is still showing up pretty well on radar currently going from Chickasha up through Bridge Creek, then to Newcastle swooping up to Moore, Valley Brook, then just under Midwest City and out to Choctaw. Temps just behind it are still up but the winds have shifted from the north, so the temps will start dropping soon. Bethany is well behind that line and has already dropped down to about 63°.

Oh... I see the radar updated ( probably a few times ) since I started typing that info and the boundry is a little further south of the areas I mentioned now.

Yea, the boundary has pushed further than they thought it would, which is good. Just a little more and it will be over me. And it looks like it is going to make it to me. But, after midnight we are supposed to get another very heavy line which I'm going to be watching closely.

The wind here in Norman has shifted to being from the north ( ish ) already, the temps have already dropped to around 67°. Washington has already had the wind shift but the temps haven't dropped yet. So you should see the wind change pretty soon I'd think and then the temps shortly afterword.

... unfortunately... the place file I typically use to monitor the winds/temps has stopped updating so I have to check the Mesonet manually for the time being.

Looking at the animation it looks like the front is going to stall out on top of me lol.

Wow, this storm is dropping multiple tornadoes at 0455 in the morning. This is about as dangerous as it gets. I will post some video of it when it fizzles out.

Wild!!!
You guys are on the ball!!
Thanks rdsok for the radar info. I have to defiantly study more about the radar's imagery.

Here's a link that I use here in Hawaii>>>>> NWS radar image loop of Base Reflectivity from Molokai, HI

Can you have a quick look and tell me what I'm missing? It is just a free link.
Also is this the same cross country radar network you are using? Only you use better software?
Ok studying continues...
Stay safe folks!!

Yeah...

I've been saving some image captures of this since before 4am. Here is a single one taken at 4:05a which happened before the Tony posted. I got a call from my exGF about 4:15a that she'd just gotten into her closet after the sirens had woke her up, she's about 6-7 east of this spinup location.

Now, I think I'm going to try to get back to sleep before I have to go into work. I've got a couple of quick jobs for the first thing at work and then I need to take the exGF to a couple of Dr appts at 1pm and 2:30p.

I took a screen capture of the timelapse of the storm. I'm going to have to look at it and see what mine looked like at that time. I was on BV 0.5º, but it looks different on mine. I know I'm using your colors lol. But yea, that one was pretty impressive.

Since I'm so friggin tired right now, I will get that video uploaded later today. Need to do a little editing to it.

and Rob, I can't see that page, I don't have flash on this computer. HTML5 has taken that over for the most part thankfully. Way too many holes in flash. But, we have a network of radar sights in the 'main land'. The two we use most here in central OK are KTLX, the one that Randy is using in the image above and KFDR in SW oklahoma. Most storms come from the SE so Fredrick (KFDR) is what we use. Of course we also use KVNX which is the NW radar for Oklahoma and then there is the Amarillo Tx radar. Not looking up that callsign lol. But, with the software that we use (I'm just now using it as of yesterday thanks to Randy), we have access to all of those radar sights and many more. I have two just north of me and very close to Randy. One is in OKC (KTLX) and then there is the radar at the NWS (National Weather Service) that we have access to, or at least I do on RadarScope. I have not seen it on this other software for the computer.

But, I"m going to have to figure out where to get the money for this software. It is just too good not to have on my computer in times like this. And we have a chance of this stuff for at least the next week. Not as high as last night, but the chance is still there.

And would you listen to that, more hail lol. Just now started falling as I'm typing this.

Tony... I had the satellite background images turned on and the streets showing and those showing through the radar image is what changes how the colors look a little... here is the same capture ( at 4:35a ) as yours but it's zoomed out ( or not cropped as much )

Right on Randy, that one looks very similar sans the background and roads.

And I don't have a car port Rob. But this was Nickle hail at best. Not going to damage anything.

Oh man, if I had nickel size hail hitting my cars finish; i'd trip. By the way, I've never seen hail. Pea size hail does happen here from time to time, but it's rare and I've never seen the phenomena..

The last hail storm we had was quarter size, very heavy and very loud inside my house. The storm before that was just over golf ball size. But what is cool is when it's 85 outside and the ground is covered in hail. Nothing but ice. Very slippery to drive on, and the fog it creates makes it even more fun lol. I remember when I was 13 years old, I was with my girlfriend at the time at Frontier City here in OKC (amusement park) when a freak hail storm hit. When you get hit with quarter size hail, you move your butt to shelter. But at the time I was only worried about protecting her. She didn't get hit, I did my job lol.

There are 6 always active weather radar's in Oklahoma and one experimental one that OU/NWS has that only is on occasionally.

OKC's radars...

KTLX - aka Twin Lakes is WSR-88D type located just south of Tinker AFB with a range out to about 250 miles for the 11 or so radar products it provides.

TOKC - is a TDWR ( terminal doppler radar ) located at Will Rogers Airport that for it's base and velocity modes has high definition but only within a 60 mile range. They've installed these at various major airports to help detect wind shear and avoid airplanes being brought down by them.

KOUN is the OU experimental radar that is operated in conjunction with the NWS and has had several types of radar. I'm uncertain if it's ever shown on Radarscope and I know it's not listed on GrLevel3 at all. I think they have a phase shift type there now but which one I'm uncertain of.

Tulsa radars...

KINX - is another WSR-88D type for that area.

TTUL - is their TDWR type radar for that airport.

Vance Air Force Base ...

KVNX - a WSR-88D radar

Fredrick...

KFDR - also a WSR-88D type.

Of course I'm not listing any mobile ( DOW ) weather radar units that anyone may be operating, nor am I listing private radars such as what some TV stations operate.

You forgot KCRI, I'm 99% sure that is the radar at Max Westimer airport. The OU radar is not on right now, not showing up on radarscope. It's there every now and then lol.

And Rob, there you go. Way more information than I could ever know about the radar sights in Oklahoma if you ever come here and need to find a radar site lmao.
