Get Val On The Getner

When I lived in Texas I followed Texas storm chasers. Watch this short video: this is from the perspective of the other helpers that showed up for the truck driver.

My OCD was going nuts on that video. If my family wouldn't have been asleep while I was watching it I would have been yelling "HOLD THE DAMN CAMERA STILL!!!!!!!!!" pretty much the whole video...

And Randy, I completely agree with you, there are way too many lookie lou's out there. I will never call them a "storm chaser", they are just there to get in the way can cause crap like happened in ElReno by overcrowding a roadway because they are ONLY following real storm chasers that know what they are doing.

Yup, too bad I'm going to miss most of it sleeping. Still have not been asleep yet. Laying in bed about to go there. It's almost 0800 just for reference. I figure I will be up between noon and 1400...

I need to check the models again later this morning but yesterday they were indicating the storms were coming in around mid afternoon.... but... I did a quick check of the general hourly NWS forecast and last night threat had shifted later in the evening but this morning it's shown to have shifted back.... So at this point it's anyone's guess.

I can say things have started firing off in NW Okla near the panhandle ( moving NE ). So the initial threats will be well west and north of us here in central OK. Of course if anything threatening suddenly pops up like they often do and I see it... I'll give Tony a call and wake his A$$ up... :D

Well, I'm awake lol. Woke up at 1445. Slept a little longer than I wanted to, but yea. Looking at how the storm are firing now, I think the main storms to be worried about are going to be north and west of 44. I think there is a second wave coming in overnight though. Guess we will see.

I'm sort of thinking ( as an uneducated thought :D ) that we may start seeing some storms start building to our SW after a bit. Around 1:30pm, there were a couple by Chickasaw that dissipated after they moved north east a bit. So I've got a radar open for Fredrick ( far SW Ok ) so I can see new activity build, as well as the OKC radar on another so I can bounce back and forth between them.

Things started out with the storms moving NNE and now they are moving more NE instead. The current tornado warnings have been along the dry line, so as that moves to the SW, it will increase our chances of seeing something.

Yea, there is an impressive storm NE of OKC. It will be North of OKC soon. Massive rotation. And instead of getting Val on the Getner, we needed to get Val out of the mud lmao. He almost got that Beast of a truck stuck today lol.

Val is caught behind a bunch of amateur storm chasers keeping him from actually tracking the storm.

Yeah, that one is actually getting stronger according to the radar. There is also another small area of rotation just to it's west that may develop into something.

I've been watching Jim in the helicopter on News9 following those... at one point a bit ago there were two that then dissipated and another formed just north. All from the same rotation area.

Yea, watching those two tornadoes on the ground was impressive. This one storm is impressive lol.

I know, right lmao. I'm watching that storm west of Altus really close now. That one has a great chance of coming our way.

Hey, can you send me the models you use for GRLevel3? I downloaded it and I'm going to give it a shot, but not enough time right now to make my own models.

Got em and got em installed thanks to your help lmao. Yea, this is a nice little bit of software to have on the computer. I'm enjoying this one. And definitely enjoying your color tables. Very easy to read.

Ok... looks like things may not get real active here in central Ok where Tony and I are at. The line of storms are expected to reach our area around 9-10pm but the dewpoint dry line is also moving South and East. If the temps drop into the 50's and the dry line moves past us before the storms reach us, it'll leave us only with severe storms but little chance of tornadoes....

Here is the current ( from 5 mins ago ) radar...

.... and here is where the dry line is per the dewpoints...

If that brown line moves past us... we will be in relative safety and only have to worry about lightning, rain, hail and wind.

They are saying that it is going to stall somewhere around OKC. I hope it moves by us which will kill the tornado thread, but the wind, heavy rain and hail will still be a threat. But if that line stalls before us, we are going to be in the perfect spot for tornadoes. Time will tell.
