hi guys I have recently bought an assault 700 off ebay , been advised to change main gear so I have gone the whole hog and got main gear, tail drive gear one way bearing, motor pinion ,it`s got sab blades also.
My question is what do you guys think of these hk align clones? and should I upgrade anything else?

Regards,

Rick.

Personally I do not like many of them. Now I will say some companies do it right, while others crap the bed on it.

Most people who start on an HK frame end up upgrading most of it due to crashes or maintenance. They do suit the need for affordability but sometimes you really have to ask yourself if your really saving money.

700 class helis are not cheap in the least bit. They cost money to fly. If your comfortable with that price point and that brand then try it. Just make sure your doing regular pre flight checks. The last thing you want is a kit to go in due to a hardware failure. This goes for any kit not just HK.

I bought one a while back. To be honest the only thing I changed was the feathering shaft bolts that hold the blade grips on and the skids so I could practice autos. Other then that its completely as it comes stock. Probably 30-40 flights with no issues. I'm about to steel the electronics out of it for another project but for 225 bucks its not bad. Main blades are from HK and the plastic tail blades it comes with

Wow not bad then ,good to hear .
My gentle hovering won't stress it much,
Mine cost 300 pounds Stirling, flown once ,all electrics the lot, even gained another ar7200 which I like.
Would live a dominatror thou think they look lovely with all bling!

If you can get to about 150 flights in a season on it and its no issue free then your good.

Everyone has different experiences and I hope yours is a good one.

That's was a steal for that kind of cash. Fully loaded ready to fly with sab blades. Sounds good.

Btw get carbon tails.

I really built it to learn autos. My thought was if I'm going to break it it might as well be a cheap bird... lol

Yeah, that's why I got my 570. The 550 class is the smallest air frame that will allow you to learn that stuff. Any of the true 550 class helis will support that training. If you find the 700 to be to much for you look at the 550 class. Cheaper all around. The Align 550 is 6s but its hard on the packs.

Just don't flip off throttle hold before the auto rotation recovery turns off, right URI? lol.
