after reading up on a lot of Simulators , AccuRC had my attention more than the other sims , anyone have any input on AccuRC , is it as good as it looks?...a lot of the other Sims seem to have " knock off" versions floating around....i'm not a fan of knock offs unless it's on a late 60's vette.

IMO, there are still some physics issues with accurc. Online has gotten better but it just isn't true to life. Realflight that Ivan mentioned is a great sim but the helicopters need more work to get right than the planes. I always said, Phoenix for heli's, RF for planes. But, now that Phoenix is no more, it limits the heli guys.

Take a look at neXt-CGM. I think @Geena likes this one the best and I think @murankar has this one and likes it as well. Here's the link --> neXt - CGM rc Flight Simulator

Here is my thought on this whole sim thing. Yes they are all great at what they do, which is teach you how to fly.

Rf is a great system that has been around for a long time and has been developed by pro pilots. I fallen away from it because of the cost to maintain and the fact you have to commit to proprietary hardware.

AccuRC is resource intensive and its not really designed to just sit down and fly. You have to build your heli then tweak and tune it the way you want it. Nice thing is that your not bound by hardware.

Nextrc is what i use. a one time fee of about $90 and all your upgrades are free. Don't lose your license email or you will have to buy it again. Your not bound to hardware or operating system. Its cross platform complient. It runs on all three big ones. Windows mac linux. Linux support is almost non existent but is out there.

If your looking for a easy to use down and dirty learning tool, nextRc is the way to go. If your looking for a video game then get accurc. If you want to be restricted then get real flight.

Sims are just one o f those things that not many people look deep into. A couple years ago Phoenix and real flight were the only two guys in town. Phoenix is discontinued but is still usable if you can get the install files.

Glad I was able to help you out.

i was looking online at the spektrum ws1000 wireless dongle and it's not really expensive , then i saw the Orangerx dongle which is half the price of the spektrum.....both compatible with NextRC , are they both same quality, or should i just get the spektrum dongle?

As far as compatibility goes check on their site. I know the real flight controller works.

As for which to get, hobby king. Go with hobby king on that. Its going to be cheap and it will be built to a cost but for what your trying to it will be just fine. Orange products do work.

There is another brand out there called lemon. They are also a cloner of spectrum stuff. Looks like they still make stuff. Plus I think they are licensed by specktrum .

If you can't find one by lemon then stick with orange.

They will both work, Spektrum is made with higher quality parts (IC's) that will last longer. But these things are so light on load that even the cheap one should last you quite a while. If you want quality, Spektrum. If you want to save a buck or two and possibly replace it in a year or two, get the OrangeRX.

even though it;s kind of hard to picture 2 items both made in china , but one of them being better quality than the other....i went ahead and bought the OrangeRX , because the wife won't notice small charges...:devilish:

There are a lot of things that are made in China and are made with top quality components (resistors, capacitors, diode's, mosfets and so on) which are used on the most expensive components you can get (medical equipment comes to mind). They are made in China not because they are cheap products, but because China has a stupid low labor rate which dramatically cuts down costs to manufacture. On the other side, all of those components I just mentioned have lesser quality counterparts. Think of a Samsung, Sony, LG... TV vs Sansui or Element or Sceptre. One you KNOW will last a long time and the company puts a good warranty on it, the other, you bought it, you own it, you deal with it lol. It's all about components used.

With all of that said, I don't think you will have an issue with the OrangeRX brand. I have some of their old receivers from back when they were a brand new company, and they are still working. They have had their issues with brownouts, burnt IC's and so on, but they learned and have overcome those issues.

I have both the Steam Realflight and Steam Accurc, they are great. I've tried the demo of the Next CGM Simulator it's also good.

The bad thing about the Next CGM Simulator is you are limited on installing the product, say you upgrade your PC. Not like the Steam versions of Realflight and Accurc, you can reinstall them as much as you want on any PC, so if you upgrade your PC, it's no problem at all.

There is the phoenix simulator which can be downloaded online for free, but I've never tried that.

I highly recommend Accurc and Realflight, if you want something that you can keep for life
