my 450 just arrived today going to set it up later and take it for a spin tomorrow. Its second hand so going to completely strip down and clean before a flight. Will use Tonys flybar setup video for the head. Any other tips for the 450 guys? Any common problems i should look to upgrade?

Check every screw for tightness and re-Loktite as necessary, never trust anyone else's build.

Hey Sion. Good luck and go through everything like Tony and Admiral mention. Remember it's NOT A TOY! :)

Yes have past experiences with other people’s builds in my nitro rc cars and surprise surprise this heli looks like stevie wonder set it up. Bent rods messed up wiering and so dirty. Ive repaired most and set up the head with Tonys tutorial so wil test tomorrow evening if the weather holds out. ill then get a new canopy (hate the colour) and then use the heli to master my skills to hopefully make me a better flyer ready for my 600

I have seen too many that are that way. At least you are making it right though. That is what matters.

Did you use a flybar locking tool when you set up the head? I am asking because the only tool for this seems to be back-ordered by all suppliers of heli parts. I guess I’ll have to make one with plexiglass and two end bolts.
Best of luck with your new purchase.

Its going to always be on back order. Not very many people have flybar helis anymore. Its not lucrative for re-sellers to stock them. I never used one when I did flybar setups. Just remain cognoscente of the flybar when doing your setup. Keep checking it for level before committing to a setup change. If you want to make one all you need is a Popsicle stick or a sturdy piece of plastic, 2 nuts and bolts and a way to secure it to the head.

Just a FYI sort of thing....

Saying it's a "450" doesn't tell anyone anything about which heli it is... It is only a reference to the general size since many companies make 450 sized heli's. I'd also mention most are probably Align T-Rex's or their clones but again there are enough different ones out there to say that isn't a certainty. In addition, there are many so called TRex 450 clones that are only sort of a clone and some parts are really interchangeable.

The point being... if you want model specific tips about your heli, you need to be specific on the exact model you have. If you want to know what may do better with an upgrade, the same applies.

No didn’t bother just got the flybar level using 2 spirit level bubbles one on each end and did it that way with a manual pitch guage

Your recommendation for a home built flybar locking tool is just what I have built this am; used a 3/4" wide x 3/16 thick piece of lexan and two screws with locking nuts. Once my flybar is licked in level, I can now use my digital pitch gauge. So far, it all works together very well. Thanks for your input.
