New Batteries Not Charging Properly

Well I just got my batteries for my Gaui X3L today. I went ahead and started charging them one at a time. Before the battery was completely charged this showed up on the charger IMG_3557.JPG I checked the battery and it was only 67% charged. This is the setting on the charger IMG_3558.JPG So I went ahead and started charging the battery again and this time the charger showed the same thing but this time it showed 87% charged. I have no idea why it's doing that. My other batteries for my RC vehicles doesn't do that. Right now I'm not a happy camper. Any ideas on whats's going on? I have a new Gaui X3L been sitting collecting dust since Christmas and brand new batteries that arrived today but won't charge properly. I did manage to get a maiden flight out of the 87% battery and made a video :). Waiting on You tube to finish uploading. Any help is appreciated.

Check individual cell voltages when it does that. That error is stating that one cell went above 4.2 volts.

Hey Tony. I just finish charging another battery and the same thing happen. It stopped @ 22.84/35%. Cell 1) 3.837, 2) 3.832, 3) 3.832, 4) 3.780 5) 3.781, 6) 3.781 volts. This stinks. New bird, new batteries and this bull crap is happening. Help please. I'm going to try and charge another battery to see what happens.

I've done that with my quad batteries and the charger works fine on the old batteries. Even with my 500 batteries which been sitting with storage charge for about a month now. I'm so confused and pissed.

If it doesn't do it with other batteries, it is definitely a new battery issue. That sucks dude...

OK. I just finish talking to some gentlemen online for Tattu/gens batteries. He told me I have to discharge the battery to 3.3volts and start the charge over again. I'm not sure how true is that because I'm probably talking to someone in bunf _ _ _k new Egypt. I'll keep trying to work this problem out but so far I'm still having the same problem. If no go, I'll call Tattu/Gens in Cali. first thing in the morning. It just sucks that I might have defected batteries from the get go. :(.

Yea, you shouldn't have to discharge them to keep them from tossing an error. I have never had a battery do this and I NEVER discharge before charging. It's almost like there is a short in the balance wires that is shorting to 2 or more cells showing a higher voltage. Might monitor all 6 cells while you are charging to see if one is jumping up while charging.

Do you have a different charger to test with? Even a cheap-0 will work.

Yeah I thought so. I never had problem charging batteries before. I will monitor all 6s. while charging them. Matter of fact I do have my cheapo battery charger. I'll give that a try...Thanks :).

Last night /morning i decided to try something else. I went ahead and charged 2 of those new batteries at the same time. I'm not sure why but for some reason it worked. Both batteries had charged all the way. One @ 98% and the other @ 99%. I was wondering if my parallel board might be going bad. I have no problems charging my quads batteries, just for some reason these new ones are. Anyway, I'm going to fly the 4 batteries sometime today and recharged them again to see what happens. I really hope that it isn't the batteries, like Tony mention, balance wires. I really don't feel like sending them back :(.

It could be a balance board issue but its not a sure thing. Chances are its the leads of the balance connectors.

Thanks for everyone input but the winner Is Tony, "Could be a charger issue." I've been using an old charger that takes about an hour, depending on the battery, to charge :(. New one at the beginning of the month.

alot of the older lipo chargers dont like charging a new full battery.. I like my X charger but i know after a few time the cells need to be under 4.00 volts ..a little later on this might might help other in time
