Here is a perfect example of what the difference is between a Goblin 380 with Flippers (in the rear) and Lynx Skids (front). There is a lot more angle on the flippers!!!

The flippers are a little unstable on the ground. I find them ok on the 420 but I’m not so keen on them on the 700, in fact I just picked up some standard skids for the 700 Black Thunder

The short answer. Those flipper skids SUCK! The GAUI X3L comes with them too. I took them out of the box, walked over to the bin...and dropped them. I put regular X3F skids on it ( direct bolt on) when I built it, and never looked back.

lol. Everyone hatin' on the flippers. Although if I had the flippers on with the issues I just had with the 420, it would have tipped over. Thanks to the Lynx skids, it just had a horrible vibration due to blades that were two completely different weights. Moral of this story, ALWAYS replace your blades as a pair! These two are so far out that I would have to put way too much tape on them to balance them. But yet, the C0G is in the exact same spot on the two blades lol. I'm working on this helicopter for a new guy to the hobby, so he is still learning. Just wish I didn't waste about an hour looking at everything BUT the blade weight lmao. I even checked the C0G BEFORE I put them on the balancer lmao. It checked out so I put them back on. Checked the feathering shaft, main shaft, blade tightness, both front and rear, and it was the weight.... Lesson learned.

Flipper skids are fine for a speed helicopter, and taking off/landing on a paved runway. But on grass, where most of us fly helicopters, they are as useless as a horse with a kickstand. As far as the blades thing goes. When I drive one in, I have no choice but to replace both blades......and half of the helicopter. Hahahahaha.

lol. Well, this poor guy, as stated, is new. He hit throttle hold, did a baby auto and landed it, but was still at mid stick, or maybe just a hair into positive pitch (The 420 spools down fast! lol) and a gust of wind came and tipped the helicopter over. Just one of those lesson learned things. Because it was such a light hit, he only replaced the tail blades, main shaft, and ONE BLADE! I didn't know this lol. I thought these were the original blades. Little did I know lol.

Here’s my Goblin Black Thunder with its new skids in place of the flippers. It’s a lot more stable.
