Well today was the day that I collected on my Christmas Presant! LOL. If youall remembered, I got an hour flight training in A Real Plane! :arms: I went up in A Cessna 150. She was an old ratteltrap but she flew beautifully! :cool1: The Flight Instructor put her in the air and I did the rest! I flew her Around for an hour practicing right and left banks. Glidding with the engine at idle. then landing. I did A touch and go then A full landing! It was scary to say the least but I did it anyway! the part the scared me the worst believe it or not was turning the plane right and left. I guess when the plane was banking it startaled me or something. After about 1/2 hour of flying I finally calmed down and my heart went back to normal. I told the instructor that maybe he should land the plane but he told me I was doing fine. He said if I could land an RC plane i would do great! LOL I told him i wasn't great at landing A RC plane! LOL. All in all it was A great time! I don't know if I would spend the cash to go any further though! OH WELL!!!! LOL.

:evil::evil::evil:

PS I have to thank my GF Tammy for if it wasn't for her I would never have done this!!!!

:notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

I just put together a f18 super hornet from rc super powers with just elevator & ailerons. I have an orange receiver & a dx6i but since I'm a heli guy I think everything is connected the right way but it doesn't look that way. The elevators I got them connect it in the elevetor port & the aileros, one is on the aileron port & the other side is on the gear port, but it doesnt seem to work. I go to the mix1, or mix2 menu on my dx6i & I try & try but no matter what I do, 1 side works, but the other doesnt do anything. I know is probably I'm not programming my transmitter correctly. So if you guys can give me a hand on how to connect & program my tx rx correctly I will appreciate it a lot. Thanks in advance.

Ok guys, this is my first kit build so any suggestions or experience you would like to pass along is greatly appreciated. I plan to take lots of pictures and post them here to document the progress as this thing comes together. The back story is that I was looking for a msr and came across a craigslist ad where someone was selling a pile of R/C aircraft. Among the pile was the msr I was looking for, and this acromaster. I bought the whole pile and decided to build up the acromaster since I was looking for a sport/3d plane anyway. From what I can tell, the guy who bought the ARF kit also bought this power pack http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXVEP8 and a set of 4 HS82MG servos. I plan on getting an orange rx for this plane.

My first question is about the servos, are they digital, and is digital as big a deal for planes as it is for helis?

The prop is a 11 x 5.5 electric thin prop, is this what I need?

Also, there were no batteries in the box, however I do have a 1800 mah 3s battery from my blade 400, will this work to get me off the ground to start with?

Here are a few pictures of the electronics.

You guys know I've been working on the heli recently. Today, I finally got a chance to use the digital caliper I bought a month or so ago. I checked all the lengths of the links and found them to be ugly off. I got it all back together and took it outside to run up the motor and see what it's like. I plugged it all up, the gyro beeped, ran the left stick up and ... nothing. No rotor movement. I was like !!! I took everything back inside thinking the battery might need recharging. Charged them up ... took it back outside ... plugged it all up ... no motor. Mind you the servos were running just fine ... not motor. Sat down with it in the driveway and started looking. Hmmmm, what could be wrong. Started switching switches on the Tx and Shazam! ... I've got motor! Only issue is unless I pull back all the way on the left stick, I get a minimal amount of motor running. I'm sure I just need to make some adjustments in the programming of the Tx. I figured since I have it running, I might as well spin it up and check it out. I tried this right after I built the thing (way back when) and had a ton of wobble. It all seemed to be out of balance. This time was totally different as it was as smooth or more smooth than the eRazor I first had (not that its that smooth, but hey, small victory). Other than it not wanting to shut down all the way, I'm only having one other issue with it, that being it wants to spin around on me. I have to give it a bunch of left stick to keep it steady. I'm thinking ... I'm thinking ... I don't really know what to do ... so that's the question. It's doing a great piro on the ground. I was almost able to get it up, but it's too hard keeping it steady to try and get it off the ground. I think I either need to shorten or lengthen the control rod going to the tail, but don't want to make that happen until I've got some ideas of you guys. I'm thinking I might also have the gyro on upside down, but don't know. I need to get some tail stability before I make that assessment.

After the wind started to calm down, i decided it was a good time tofly my E-Flite UMX Geebee. I was really excited because i havent flown it in 2-3 weeks. I take off, fly around for a couple of minutes and everything is fine. Then i do a turn on the right side of my yard and i lose signal!!:pissed-off: I've flown it in that area before without any issues!! So, i go to the crash site and everything works. I started to do a range test by walking backwards and moving ailerons until i lose control, and it loses control after like 20yds!!!?? I have NOO idea why i keep losing signal with it. Could it be that the UM reciever units just dont have enough range? I cant fly it at my AMA field because i lose it their too.....

So anyways, i got some other planes out with Spektrum RXs and some knock-offs to test signal. I put them in the area i lost signal in and they work fine. i could go 100yds away and they would be fine!

Do you guys know why it lost signal?!?

Thanks to a great deal on craigslist I have gotten myself a Multiplex Acromaster ARF kit with most of the electronics already bought(I got it in a lot). The problem I have is that this plane is foam and the other plane I was really looking at was an extra 260 wood, probably from e-flite. I could sell this acromaster kit and have the money I need for the extra, or I could just keep the acromaster and put it together. What should I do???? I don't know enough to know if this thing being foam instead of wood is a big deal. All the reviews of it I have seen online seem to be positive. I just don't want to go into a snap roll or something and have a wing break off. Help me rc-help, your my only hope.

finally started putting my head together for my apache project but when using all the supplied hardware, the blade grips are way too tight. there is a 0.4mm washer between the grip and the head and with everything tightened down it does not move freely. my local hobby shop suggested that maybe the grip bearings weren't fully seated. various other forums suggest leaving the washers out, sanding them, or replacing them with thinner ones. anyone out there have any bright ideas? and also I wanna try and use my 1600kv motor but have also read that a 1200-1300kv motor is better and possibly having to change pulleys for the tail and to fly with or without a 3G FBL system,.....and so on. sensory overload! lol i just want to finish it and fly the damn thing lol any input is greatly appreciated.

I have been doing some work on the F-16 plans, and I want to give this a little "Beta Test" to see how it flies for other people. If you fly it, please give me feedback on what you would like changed. Remember, this is a beta version and you are building and flying this plane at your own risk. Use a 64mm EDF with a 5 blade impeller and a 2200mah 35c 3s Battery. Servos are just standard 9g servos. You can run a single elevator, or split as shown on the plans. If you want to run a single aileron, then make the back of the plane go all the way across (as shown in the maiden video) and you won't have to use a rod to connect them together.

If you feel that the ailerons need to be bigger or smaller, try it out and let me know what you find out. If you can get a 70mm EDF stuffed into this thing and run it on a 4s, let me know. I'm sure that will be a blast lol. I'm trying to get my hands on a 70mm, but that is not going so well.

Click on the file below to download the BETA version of the RCH F-16

I got the Hyperion parallel charge board (http://tmkarc1hobby.com/hyperion-six-port-charge-adapter-for-mcpx-packs-hp-mc6padap) for my MCPX batteries....

I got the Hyperion parallel charge board for my MCPX batteries.
Wow what a difference. Instead of charging one battery every 20/30mins, now i charge all six in the same amount of time.
How it works.
The charge board sees one big 1S battery instead of six little ones.
So 6x 300mah batteries become 1x 1800mah battery, and this is how you would set your charger. Tried it for the first time today. 27mins later all charged and ready for action :)

I lost the canopy nuts already. I got so excited when I opened it they fell out I think. Any how I have a new set on order along with a new align main gear set. Lets see If I can reduce some of the vibrations. This week end I think I might change the main and feathering shafts just to make sure nothing is bent. I did the hex wrench turning in the blade grips and nothing seemed out of alignment. This will also provide me the chance to check for a level swash.

In the 9x I can copy a model, so I will do that and rest the trims to zero and recheck. Anyhow Happy flying

ok..put the new servos in. And the battery croaked. The heli functions fine but aint set up at all and the battery is dead..this is a brand new RTF heli that came with stripped servos and a lose motor amongst other screws and nuts lol..It is all tight now..servos new. swash working great an extra set of blades,tail gear and something else I forget all it needs is a battery and someone with more knowledge than I have about these things. I want a heli that I can put the receiver for my DX6i in that is a 400 or larger. I love Blade and would dig having a 400. All I need is the heli..I have TX,receiver and will get battery if I need to and I have charger for 3c 11.1 battery so no need there either. Would also consider a trainer plane of same state.. Basically ARF I guess. I have decided that I would rather have something I can run with my DX6i and simplify things. Also I must admit this experience soured me on Walkera as well as I can't stand the radio design. But I assume it will have to be something with a flight bar as I don't believe this receiver will work on a flybarles. Anyway that's my plan guys..hit me up if your interested or have any suggestions. Is a brand new Walkera V400D02 RTF minus battery as it died. Needs to be adjusted and radio setup correctly but is all working. Never crashed.

Well today Matt (CallSign) and I decided to head out to my local flying club and do some flying. Well, should I say I did some flying lol. I did...

Well today Matt (CallSign) and I decided to head out to my local flying club and do some flying. Well, should I say I did some flying lol. I did bring him the frame for the mcpx and we worked on his blade 400, but couldn't get the blade up and running because of a broke main gear. But we did get his mcpx running with the new frame and had a blast with his and my heli's. I had some tail issues with mine and I'm not sure why. Three times I had my tail just blow out all of a sudden for no reason. On the third battery when it blew out, I totally lost it and crashed it into the concrete very hard. so far the only thing I can see that broke is the tip of the little nipple on the weighted blades. Not a big loss, I have more blades.

I didn't get the Edge Mini or the Bipe out there today even though I wanted to. but I did take my Extra and my big Edge out there. Sadly, the only video I got was onboard the Extra and it actually turned out pretty well. I will be uploading it later. Nothing impressive, but it's flying.

There was one time when I was flying my last battery that I thought I was going to lose my Extra. I had taken off and was going to do some touch and go's in the wind that we have because my landings suck lol. so I went out and was turning around for a final and the wind caught the plane and twisted it. Unfortunately dark clouds had moved in and I still had my glasses on lmao. Needless to say, for the first time in a LONG time, I lost orientation on my plane. But, I regained it and brought it back.

After I did that, all of those nervous feelings came back like I had just started flying again. It sucked and my fingers were shaking lmao. This was bad in this wind. I was able to just relax and was able to do about half a dozen really good touch and go's. The final landing was perfect IMO.

the Edge flew just like the Edge flies all the time, flawlessly. One of these days I'm going to get a GoPro and I will get a lot more onboard video rather than having to rely on my keychain cam.

I will try to get that video uploaded tonight or tomorrow sometime. right now, I'm working on the lanyards and the shirts so I can get them in the store for you guys.

I was thinking of ordering this if it is not to complicated to operate or not to heavy for the heli to haul to the air.

If you are a member that has under 100 posts and you try to post more than 3 images or links, once you click the submit button you will get a message (This post will be available once a moderator approves it) or something like that. If you get that message, let me know and I will approve it. I just approved 4 of them just now, and thought I would let you guys know that you can get ahold of me to approve them.

When I get a chance, I will be making some changes to the forum so this doesn't happen again after 5 posts. As stated, its under 100 posts and you can be moderated, but after I make all of the changes, it will be 5 posts. just give me some time. I know this is frustrating, but this is an antispam measure for those spam bots that like to post a lot of links or pictures. And being a family site, some of the spam links and pics are not work or family friendly. So I will be making some changes to help out the members of this site and keep them from being moderated.

If you have any suggestions, don't hesitate to let me know. This is a members forum and your opinion counts!
